What is the easiest way to reduce the file size to less than the
102400 maximum that we are allowed?

I currently download pics from my camera into an Adobe program, which isn't very sofisticated. (spelling)

just either resize it or lower the resolution. For the internet you only need a resolution of 96dpi max. Should be an option under file, view or edit

Yer standard display output is 96dpi ;) I know this coz my other half is an advertising DTP operator and constantly tells me you only need pictures in 96dpi if you are only showiung them on the web and not printing them out

You actually need the images to be 72Dpi, as this is what your monitor displays pixels at. 96Dpi is normaly used for low-res print proof, but this does not match your screen resolution. 96Dpi is only used when you can display in full colour CMYK, as we all know computer monitors only use 3 channel RGB. Each channel can display a max of 24 pixels per inch thus giving you 72dpi and not 96. 96 comes about because any good printing is done in CMYK(4,6 or 8 colour press), but you never proof from your high res images, so a low res version is used to show the client. 4 Channel low res is 96Dpi, no good for screen use :(
