View Full Version : How many FWD cars have you owned?
Just a quick poll to see how many FWD cars we've owned.
I fell off the wagon once in 1991 and bought an XR3i, sold the stupid scrabble wagon 4 weeks later.
Fiesta 1.1 Ghia - 1st car :D
Toyota Corolla GTi
Escort RS Turbo
Escort 1.3 bonus
Fiesta XR2
Then I saw the light :D
Since getting the S13 many moons ago, every car Ive had since (mainly my runaround car) has been RWD
as RWD is more rare wouldnt it be more interesting to do the pole the other way around. i.e. This is the first RWD cars I've own after lots of many FWD shopping trollies!
1.1 escort and a '3i:eek: :(
FWD (5):
VW Polo 1.0 (1st car)
VW Golf 1.6 Driver (unreliable piece of sh*t)
Nissan Sunny 1.6 Coupe (sadly the GA16S engined version though, not the CA16DE)
MG Metro Turbo  (stolen)
Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI (fantastic little car, great fun, but bad electrics and rattly/tinny bodywork let it down)

I've had 7 FWD so far... but they've all been cheap runabouts that i've either used cuz i was skint or as a second car. I don't have a problem with FWD cars and i'd buy another one without any hesitation.... i just wouldn't expect it to be any good :D
All the half decent performance/fast cars i've owned have been RWD (oh..and 1 4WD)
3 I'm afraid to say
Fiesta 1.1 on an "x" in celtic bronze (rusty water)
Orion Equip
Mondeo 2.0si
Well I did work for Ford!!
and I've only ever driven 3 RWD cars aswell. Those have been some of the best rear drivers ever!!!
A Volvo 340dl :D
A 3 door Sierra Cosworth (Graham Goode)
and my beloved 200
:o 1. fiesta (xr2 eng bored out to 17.80)

It was a Volcane. It was actually good fun to drive and quite a grunty engine :) but it was quite unreliable and appeared to have been built by a troop of circus chimps :(

1) VW Polo Mk 1, 895cc bought for £20 and rebuilt over a year. Loved that car.
2) Triumph Acclaim, 1.3
3) VW Polo Mk 2, 1.3
4) VW Golf Mk 2, 1.3
5) Renault Laguna 2.0RT
I find the previous comment about French cars being put together by circus chimps to be untrue, demeaning, and utterly deplorable.
Circus chimps are highly intelligent and well trained animals, and couldn't possibly make such a complete f*ck up of assembling a car.
The veedubs were cool, they just kept going for ever. The Triumph was great, quite nippy (had a high revving jap engine in it), but was unreliable as hell.
