Last year I arrived mid to late afternoon and did a few laps of the place and checked out quite a few cars. Then when everyone decided to leave there was a massive pretty stationary queue.
I just parked up near an exit and just sat for an hour and watched everyone roll by. It was a really good way to see/hear everything without getting pissed off in a line of traffic.
