Mounting gauges in pods on the A pillar wasn't for me, so had to look for other solutions. My 2" VDO boost gauge appears like its sitting in the center of my speedo, and a 1.5" mini mechanical oil pressure gauge, in the centr of the tach.
They're mounted in short pieces of scrap pipe from a muffler shop that I cut... take the guages with you so they can just expand the end for a "snug" fit if you don't have an expander ($10 at jc whitney). I made small metal "L" brackets to position the gauge and screwed it to the trim bezel, connect the instruments then pressed them into the pipe. Tie wrap excess wire up under dash in case you ever need to move gauges.
Got an air fuel meter (turbo cars need these!) here: http://www.dawesdevices.com/air.html
very small, inexpensive, good design and fits anywhere!! Works great... no need to "guess" if you're underfueling or not.
OR
westach has an exhaust gas temp gauge with a drill or clamp on style temperature probe for your exhaust. Many tuners prefer these.
http://www.westach.com/ has high quality guages with some trick combinations / packaging.... check 'em out.

Ammeter mini 1.5" gauge is mounted underdash a bit, next to radio console - a quick glance thru lower portion of steering wheel lets me know electrics are ok.
Mini gauges come in a trio for $20 total at jc whitney, the two mentioned already and a third is a temperature gauge with probe, that I guess can be used for oil temp monitoring, for those who wish to (I didn't use mine).
For tuning only:
Mechanical autometer 2.625" fuel pressure guage is temporarily "clipped" onto rear of hood, at cowl.
For intercooler testing or sprayers, I velcro an intercooler in / out temperature display to the dash, then remove. info below
Westach Model 2DA3-21 (aircraft style 2-1/4") unit is $87.10. The senders are #399S7E at $25.30 each. These senders are 1/8" NPT for permanent placement. We
suggest the use of our Dip-Stick type senders @ $18.30 each as a substitute for non-permanent. These dip-stick type senders are a thermister bead in epoxy mounted on at the end of an 8' teflon coated wire for gauge activation.
just some options
