View Full Version : Apex AFC fuel curve tuner.....
anyone using this on an S13 ?
I've been laying in the weeds, reading posts where quite a few of you guys have fitted bigger turbos and ecu chips.
While gains can be realized from a reprograme, you would have to be running the exact combination, under the same conditions that the calibration was done - that is if you want to extract the most from it, no ? Not very likely you would.... so many combos.
I've seen my friend fit bigger injectors to his mitsu turbo 2.0 and use the Apex AFC to "dial in" his fuel curve. Car now flies, with crisp driveability.
Just thought it may've been a natural here... reasonable price too, $330us.

Use it? i've never heard of it! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/redface.gif
Not many of use have to use items like this because to get more than 300bhp you have to replace the pistons, so as you can imagine its very expensive to do this so most have between 200 - 290bhp, the standard injectors are good for 310bhp so many of us haven't uprated the injectors as yet.

Hi Quest, welcome! I'm considering one rather than a Superchip or whatever. I'm looking at the Apexi S-AFC or possibly an HKS Super AFR. The Apex unit has been recommended to me by several people, and it looks cool too http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
One question though, how would you know how to modify the fuelling for different conditions? I mean, how would you know fuelling at 6000 RPM needed to increase by 1%, for example. I always thought unless you know what you're doing its going to be better to leave the fuel curves to the experts http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif
Thanks

Interesting comment paul_s13. You run out of fuel at the limit of the pistons....
Makes good sense though, ecu work is fine for working with what ya have.
thanks for the link.
Papa Lazarou,
The AFC has 5 or 6 trim pots, each assigned to a specific rpm range, thus covering the whole rpm band.
An air fuel ratio meter would be a wise investment for any turbo car. Use it for your tuning window, while adjusting fuel.
If you're not comfotable with tuning and don't wanna be bothered, it is "best left to the pros" as you said - chip it and forget it. This boost thing gets addictive however, and some of us get bored (or curious) and wanna take it to the next level.... tuning items like the AFC affords you that flexibility.
