OK, I've found a couple more wheels I'm thinking of. Any opinions?

1: Momo Racer Evo 2 (8.5x18"). I like the polished rim/black centre contrast.

http://www.momo.it/Momo/cerchi/auto/racerevo2.jpg

2: BK Racing 121 (18's in black chrome or silver). Take a look here - http://www.bkracing.co.uk/eclipse.html

They look rather like these super expensive Work Meister S2's don't you think?

Hey Papa,

Wish I could afford some 18's, personally I prefer the BK's, maximum calliper/disc exposure ! plus you get the deep dish look aswell, look really excellent with some tyres stretched to fit around them.

Is your car maroon ? not sure how black wheels would look on it ? I think black looks best on silver, black or yellow (!?) cars.

You should get GT2 on playstation ! I can never decide which wheels to put on, you be able to by an S14 (think thats what you have ?) and try all the wheels on it, though avoid dodgy tri-spokes...and any of those blue ones...

Anyways thats my opinion.

I DO like the BK 121's - very nice...
but I think I'm definitely wanting some BK238's now ... Been looking for a thin-style 7-spoke for ages, the only ones I truely wanted were Advan Model 7's but I don't think they were done in a compatible form for the S13.
My car's gunmetal/graphite grey so which colour wheel do you recommend - silver, "high power silver", or black chrome ?

BK121s only come in 17"x7", but they look great on the 200sx. I've got the silver ones which have a diamond cut rim - very shiny! I paid £700 with 215/45/17 tyres. They are a bugger to clean though cos of the deep dish!

Jesus ! all these people with money to burn on wheels while I'm struggling to keep my 200 on the road...

Reckon black chrome wheels would look good on graphite grey car.

Wish I had a spare grand or so to spend on some goodies like that...

All american cars but loads of wheel and car colour combo's, look identical to the UK 200 we have.

I must admit I do like the black centers with the polished outers, very nice. I also like the ones which are black in the center with the red outers as seen on I think the MR2's (hairdresers car I know) I dont know wether the red would suit the sx though.

Give http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_garage/WheelSearch.jsp?autoMake=Nissan&autoModel=240SX+Convertible&autoYear=1994 a look.
You can try different wheels/sizes on a pic of an S13 or S14.

Thanks for the advice chaps!

Jeffers - I probably can't afford these wheels theres probably something much more pressing I should be spending the money on, but what the f*** http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif

Nathan, yes I like those black/red ones too. Advans I think they are..

andyf> Bk only do the 238's in Silver with the right offset and pcd for the 200sx.

Jeffers> They look like BBS RK's to me.

BK do some new 8 and 10 spokers which look sweet.

Papa,

a word of caution, talking to Simon Norris recently about wheel upgrades he pressed me to go to 18s rather than 17s due to the increased handling.

One thing he did say was that you can't go wider than 7.5" on the front as it will foul the suspension (he is running 7.5 x 18 Kahns)

Thus my idea of running 18" Kosei Sinpers has been shot dead (sic) - have to look elsewhere - (they are 8" wide)

safe (but fast) driving !

Thuvir, as I understand it the S14 can have up to an 8" wide wheel on the front and 9" on the back. Can anyone confirm this? Still at the back of my mind I'm thinking of going for those Image splits, at least they will make them in the exact offset and size required (as all of them are one offs). Expensive though!

As for the Snipers, could you go for 17x7's at the front and 8x18's at the back maybe? Just a thought. I don't think it would look too odd - its quite a common combination in some cars.

Does anyone know if 17's on an S13 will rub arches or will they fit fine? and what width is ok? I can't decide whether to go for them or not. might just get a mongoose system instead and ND boost upgrade. too many decisions.

Papa,

sorry for confusion, I am referring to S13s, thus 7.5 on the front and whatever you can get away with in the back.

17s will be okay providing you don't foul the front suspension (see previous posts on 7.5"), I have just spent some £1500 on upgrading suspension, front discs and bushes, and the car goes just great ! - best I've had in five years, wheels are an afterthought, look to make your engine work as effectively as possible, then look at purely cosmetic items as spoilers and wheels.

(oops - you've already got a spoiler haven't you !!)

Bond: I think 17's go on without a problem but 18's may need a small amount of work or reduced lock

Papa> Yeah, 8x18 front with 225/40/18 and 9x18 rear with 255/35/18 go straight on an S14.

Jon,

I don't really like either set. In my opinion, the best shaped wheels I've seen on a s14 are the ones Dan has got on his, but I think htese are quite pricey. I reckon gold would look a good match for that burgundy though (like the ones on the Impreza).

I've just fitted a set of 17" Radius R3's to my S14 i think they suit car pretty well, look similiar to those fitted to Dan's car and only cost around £850 inc Falken 215/45/17, which are the latest V pattern tyre from Falken (FK451's). Next time though i think i'll go for at least a 225/45/17 cos 215's don't quite look fat enough in my opinion !! I can send you some pics if it helps.

Just to add to the confusion over wheels, you can get 9x17 on the front of an S14 with standard shocks/lowered springs.

Bah my post broke..
Anyway, hurray! I found the type of wheels I'm after! I first saw these type on a 400bhp altezza from one of my best motoring vcd's when it was drifting around a track and I thought the wheels looked really good when the car's moving at speed. So, here we are: http://www.wheelmax.com/Wheels/Sizes/17.htm - then select one of the following:
Giovanna - Kugi
Katana - Concept 7
Konig - Tantrum
Nippon Racing - Taiko

It's a clean, thin 7-spoke design which I think will probably go well on a 200sx. I dont believe I've ever seen these kind of wheels on an SX so I'm going to scour the net some more.

Thanks for all the pics and suggestions peeps http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif I'll have a little think about it.

Oh, and Andy did you know many Konig wheels are sold under the League brand name in this country? League Tantrums are definately available.

Geoff - agree gold goes well with bergundy - i'm looking into this.

Holy mother of god. 440bhp on 1.3 bar of boost? I guess it has a T4 or somethin'

As for the wheels, I have seen them on an MR2 turbo thats up this end and they look wikkid. But they Always looked dirty/dusty. Black seems to amplify dust and crap x10.

Then again he might have been lazy and just not washed them, rest of the car was mint though.

Im a fan of Huge deep dished split rims for some reason, never see many about though. Except on those weird Dimma's.

*Also, while im thinkin about MR2's I was looking a guys who works here yesterday, Weird intercooler set up, its got a bloomin big fan blowing hot air from the engine on it to cool it down. Weird stuff.

Papa Lazarou
16-06-2001, 14:46
I may be able to have some custom black/red jobs made up (split rims with the outer rim anodised in red) but I'm looking at others also. I reckon gold centre/polished rim would look nice with the wine red paint. That option will be a lot cheaper than buying a set of Super Advans, which I reckon will set you back about £500 per wheel without tyres!!

Mike_S13

Hit the nail on the head there Papa Laz! Think they would look great on a wine red or possibly dark blue car. Have you considered Blitz wheels? I know they are expensive but they look amazing http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/techno.jpg

You're not jokin' about them being expensive!
I priced a set up for Dan a while back when he wss looking at them.
Pre-discounted prices for 8x18's are £553 + Vat EACH!
Saying that, I've recently seen a Lenso wheel which looks quite similar, only a LOT cheaper!
