Thought i'd post this here as it'll probably get more attention than in the north west section (moderators delete the NW thread if you want)
i'm heading down to shakespeare raceway at avon this sunday to do some 1/4 miling. Anyone else up for it???
And apparently there is a show down between Keith Cowie in his R32 and Mick white in his R33 are going head to head to settle their differences on the 1/4 mile. Details can be found here : http://passionford.com/forum/showthread.php?t=260132
what could be better than 2 8second skylines battling it out?
sumo power's fuugin 'the pink one' is entered into this as well just for the final sporting the new HKS T62R BB turbo. pretty sure he's there just to stir it up
should be good shame i've got a christening to go to :annoyed: :annoyed:

I cant wait... what kinda 1/4 mile should i be getting with 348.5bhp and 340Lb/Ft? my mate with 280bhp got a 13.5 and my bro with 265 got a 13.5. So, i'm hoping for a 13.0....
You've got more power than me
Low 13 should be possible with some practice I would have thought
See you Sunday :)

Unfortunately, i suffered from massive missfiring... either the coilpacks or maybe even this thing about the type 2 apex manifold design making the valves open when they aren't supposed to be.... either way, this massively hindered my 1/4 mile times. Managed a 13.9 but that was with the last 1/16th of a mile coasting due to the missfire. gutted!

It wont be the manifold if it was ok before...... check for boost leaks then borrow a set of plugs and coil packs to try, you can always nab mine, or I also have a spare set at Grahams
Was a bit busy today and there were a few 200's there :)
Only got 5 runs in but new personal best of 12.4 @ 121mph :D
121mph thats going some! are you still running around 320 or have you upped the pony count?
Still 320hp plus 25hp shot of nitrous
i thought as much :D good work and congrats on the time

the plugs are only 2 months old NGK Iridium 8's. Also, i removed, cleaned and replaced all the intercooler joint including the new of brand new high quality jubilee clips ~4 months ago too. So its either a weak coilpack starting to break down (i've never replaced the coilpacks, they're all original equipment from when the car was new). The reason i think it may be the coilpacks as i had something similar on my missus's skyline.
It seems to be worse the hotter the engine is and mostly only happens if i take it right to the red line, then go for the next gear, when i bury the throttle in the next gear, theres nothing there other than missfires. come off the throttle and coast for a few seconds and then bury the throttle again and its fine....
Oh well, its an excuse for new plugs, splitfire coils, new manifold and cams just to make sure i remedy it:D

Car is stripped out and running toyo R888 tyres
My launches were all pretty useless (over 2secs 60 foot), if I can hook up a 1.9 60 foot and not miss any gears I should get down to 12.2 :D
I would have had a chat but it was so busy and I spent most of the day pushing the car in a long queue just to get 5 runs !!

Did you experiance this in every gear? I have had what you described but only in first gear. As you get through first the quickest I found that if I was not watching the revs and went too high up the range into the the red by accident then the car would splutter and miss into 2nd gear and I would have to abort the run. For me it was just the excitement of the moment and not concentrating enough on the revs climbing that fast through first gear.

it was in all gears.. :(
like i said, its not a problem, i'm currently writing a list of what bits i need to remedy it. Although the list includes some go faster bits too.... ha ha

For the half hour or so it takes, its probably still also worth checking the plugs (and coilpacks), if I had a pound the amount of times I've had an issue it shouldnt possibly be :wack:
It would be rude not to buy faster bits though :D

did a compression test tonight. Everythings brilliant in that department.
I had the anglia at shakespeare at the weekend!
Nice to see some 200s! I had a great weekend and managed a npb of 12.1 :D!
I'll post up my terminal later but i think it was 124mph and in 5th crossing the line!
A big thanks to my son stuart and his pals for support, thanks to turbosteve for his help with trackside tuning; entertainment management and transport!!
Is 11s possible, lol, any ideas?
what sort of 60' times were you getting to run those times? might be some room for improvement there or you could always up the jet sizes a tad :D
