View Full Version : Optical mouse...
I was bored this afternoon and tried using my optical mouse on the front of the monitor! It works to my disbelief!! Try and move the mouse over the cursor! :p
I'm not sure what's worse - you being bored enough to discover that, or me trying it as well...
Its like a cheap mans touchscreen! :D

NJ has a 21" TFT. Optimum resolution is 1600x1200..
Cost: £800 to you sir

£800 is a good price, 17"s are still 400ish for a decent one.
TFT's are nice but not as good as a quality CRT IMO, esp for moving graphics.

I agree with you there - while they look nice and fancy. I prefer a decent sized CRT for image quality any day.
I was hauling my iiyama 19" CRT around Newbury Racecourse in March. Had pain in my left arm for a couple days :( TFT's for mobile computing for sure. A TFT and a Shuttle PC - it's becoming a massively popular combination for lan events. In fact.. I almost have enough spare bits to fill a shuttle.. right, where's muh switch card.
Actually can that, I wanna get the 200sx sorted before Billing :D TFT's can get dead pixels and that can really suck if the manufacturer won't replace it (tomshardware.com recently had a good article about this). Hitachi do some fast refresh monitors now, moving images not a massive problem.
My mate went to that LAN party :)
Those shuttle PC's are the bollox

Nope LCD's are useless for games, apart form the really expensive ones - and even they still suffer from motion blur.

I beg to differ.
Can we keep on topic please. :p :p :p :p :p :D
My mouse deffinately dont work on my monitor, its a microsoft mouse and a samsung monitor :)
Please tell me if there is anything to look out for. I need to desperately solve this problem.
Cheers, Vince
:D
Do you have the latest drivers installed? ;) :D
(There may be a "works on monitors fix" out there)
I have just downloaded and installed the latest Intellipoint drivers, but still no difference.
What if I attach a mousemat to the screen? Will that work?
Try covering your monitor in clingfilm - the extra reflectiveness may help.
Problem solved.
I have got a pair of my old tights, and streched them accross the screen, using "no nails" to hold them in place. This makes the screen tinted aswell, so I get less glare which will help my eyesight in the long term. The mouse now works great on the screen.
The mouse mate on the screen also worked (ithink) but I couldnt see anything
Cheers :)

You must have a pretty good LCD then.
No, I don't have one myself yet. I've used several types, including Hitachi's and the AOC / Dabs Value 15" one. They're perfectly acceptable for games and two people on LCD's were consistently winning on g0atpr0n/instagib servers :D
