I dont know about anyone else, but the new breed of lights ie the high energy discharge type - I think really are dangerous to other drivers.

Ok, you get a fantastic view from the drivers seat - but if you happen to be the poor sod in front, you either get distracted by a multi-colour halo appear in your rear view mirror - or when the car hits a bump and you get the full impact of one of these lights in your mirror - as I'm sure you know its blinding !

..... maybe I should get a BM with a self dipping mirror, then I can drive round blinding everyone else .....

They don't bother me. I'd quite like a set :p

They apparently can cause some people to have migraines and stuff just by catching sight of them though..

Oh and multicolour halo? My dads beemer has non-hid lighting which has a sort of multicoloured rainbow effect around the edge of the light. Like I said it is definately non hid. All the hid equipped ones I've seen have just cast a very white or bluish white light and when approaching you appear to change colour from white to blue depending on the angle you view them from.

I have HID lights on the E and must say I think they're bloody good. However I do get flashed a lot at night (and yes the lights are set correctly) and have noticed that these types of lights are a pain in the retina when behind me.

My favorite hobby is coming up behind BMWs at night and 'forgetting' to dip the lights for a few seconds :D

I used to get annoyed by modern cars with bright headlights such as HID lights...

But now I have my revenge for I have replaced my standard 60/55W headlight bulbs with 130/90W ones, and I have become the one doing the blinding :D

But does anyone else think for a slpit second as a car equiped with HID's is a cop car?

I do it must be the odd blue glint every now and again.

Nearly every bloody time. Used to be good a few years ago though as most of the time it was the cops.

Bloody HIDs, they're even more distracting than the idiots who insist on driving with their fog lights on

Fiat Puntos, Omegas, some Alfas and Audi TT's seem to be the worst

The thing that really gets me going is once my heart rate is back to normal and I am convinced I am not getting pulled over is the shadow of your car that is in front of you because the ***** in the bimmer behind you is so far up your arse.

I am becoming more convinced every day that bmw drivers think they own the outside lane of any public highway... in fact any tarmac surfaced object, after gatecrashing a couple of their trackdays with the GTR boys !!

the bastards won't even get out of the way on a racetrak !!

hid lights are the bane of my life at the moment, I must get some to get even with.

Rant over, flack jacket on.

Right on the mark had quite a few heartstopping moments from this in the rearview mirror but then our uk roads are so nice and smooth due to the amount of roadtax we pay i should be able to tell the difference between cops blues and one of these lights going over a bump

I love HIDs, not so much when they are driving at me. I really want a set for the 200 but at more than the price of a lot of go fast parts I think they will have to wait. Even in the states they are around $500

Yup. I hate them and would love to see them banned.

Worst thing is when you back off thinking it's the old bill and a TT goes bombing past you!

Shipping from the USA - and just replace your bulbs... and its all above board!

How much are they then?

Think they were about 480 US$, including shipping, when I checked in December, butyou need to email them I think, since they quote differnet prices at different exchange rates perhaps.

Hmmm I need go faster bits first - am going for a new clutch kit from Bren I think. And then filter, goose and upgraded boost

I'm buying something classed as HID's I think. I'll let you know how it goes and who the first person to fall off the nearby country lane blinded is! :(
