Hi,

Im looking at doing a few track days. Seems a usual cost is around 130 quid. I was just wondering, how much use of the track do you actually get at a track day?

How many sessions/laps/how long does the hundred or so quid you pay get you?

They are either sessions (20 minutes every hour for each of 3 groups) or open pitlane (go out whenever you want).

Open pitlane are usually more expensive.

They run from 9 to 5 with an hour for lunch.

I usually get through about 2 tanks of petrol, refueling when it gets to 1/4 tank.

There's an open pit day comming up at Castle Combe:

Make sure your brakes are up to the job.

Also check the Castle Combe thread in the West Country section stickys. There are often Action days which basically let you do a 20min session for around 25quid.

another.

How well do the cars actually hold out on such days? I am expecting a 200sx to be my daily drive, and still let me hoon it around a track every now and then.

Am i expecing too much?

I've done three track days so far this year and hope to squeeze one more in before the end of the year.

The 200's love it on track. I have to admit, I opt out before the car does.

I will say that had I not of upgraded the brakes, I would not have stayed on track. Standard brakes are old and will not stop you in a straight line.

Ok.

I usually change brakes disks etc when i first buy a car anyway. Might have a look at this 350z conversion someone keeps talking about.

Im no maniac, so is it possible to have a baby and use it on the track too? My aim for the end of this year is a visit to the Ring. I've wanted to do this for a long time, and the 200sx seems the way to get the best of both worlds.

Reading the beginning to track days thread, im now thinking. Keep my car and buy a 2-3k version just for track use.

However i would love to have a 200sx to drive to work in in the mornings too! :)

If you look after your 200sx properly it should be ok as long as you dont have an off or mod it to much.

have a look at the dbpower section in the traders section for brake upgrade kits
