Right well....

After lots of thinking and weighing things up.... I'm scrapping and giving up with the car. There's a shedload of aftermarket parts that I have for her - hell the coilovers have only done 150 miles ffs :( Loads of brand new suspension not fitted etc.

Weighing the costs up its going to cost me about £3-4k just to get her back to the value of a 5k car.

So... any takers locally for gear before I post in the parts section? :(

I'd put up a list in here 1st, of what you've got and for what price, as at least you wouldn't have to mess around with postage and packing etc.

Shame its come to this mate. :(

As far as corrosion goes - there's barely any - slight bit of rust by drivers front jack point, nothing else as far as I can see. Oh typing mistale - 150 miles o the coilvers, not 50 :S Tiredness taking over there.

Will draw up a list over the next day or so and post what I have. Over a grands worth of apex suspension gear alone, all bar the coilovers still in boxes.

Adam - I have clear front & side indicators if you are interested? The frots are still new in the box atm. Gary - you still interested in some wise rear lights?

Sorry to hear you're breaking it mate :( But I could be tempted by some or all of the above, money depending (as long as I clear it with Bex. Or just don't tell her...;))

WTF mate? :(

Please don't take this as me having a go as it isn't meant that way..but you were planning on spending the money to get it all kitted and have a respray anyway, so what difference does it make? (apart from replacing tyres and the glass?). You know we'd help you out where we could, you can save money by having a slightly more inconvienient location to keep the car whilst your sorting it as well.

You mod an SX it's not gonna add that much value dude, we all know that. FFS, I lost £3k on the sale of my S14a due to parts. It's about the car and how great they are to drive. Don't lose heart Steve.

Sorry to hear this.

Would you not buy a donar car and re-shell?
Someone is bound to have a good shell with a dead engine somewhere(or an auto sx), then sell whats left over.

Its allot of leighbour but if cost is an issue should work out cheaper than the bare metal respray if you get a large supply of beer and a few friends round for a barbique.

Did you have any luck nailing the ***** for the damage.:smash::smash::smash:

Wolfe don't do it

Wolfe
12-08-2008, 06:33
I'm stuck in a situation here where i can't afford to fix her up in anything like a good time (talking a minimum of a year plus here)... plus all the costs of repairing/spraying etc plus new tyres. The garage alone will cost me about nigh on £1500 quid just to keep her local to work on for the next year.

I don't have the cash for a donor shell, only about 3-4 hours a week to work on her at best... no transport in the meantime bar my legs & bike... and a severe drought of technical knowledge regarding lots of things car related.

To be honest it looks like I am going to end up chucking cash on rental of a garage for a year, then havig to strip & scrap anyway :(

Wolfe
12-08-2008, 06:34
With regards to thigs like selling the injectors off - don't have the standard ones to hand and would rather sell the engine as a whole as a healthy block if possible.

Shocks wise, I don't have standards to put back on :( Was never intending to have this situation come up.. and coupled with no where to store parts they ended up getting tipped :(

Electronics etc will need to be desoldered bit by bit to remove from the car - so might take a little while to resolve removing.

I'm open to suggestions of how to resolve without selling up but currently I have no viable options.

See my previous posts mate. Without assuming it's ok (Forgive me Teggers), Teggers offered his garage, and although it's far away would be safely stored for prep work etc. A few solid days of body work over a few weeks can see the body completely prepped, although you need the rear panel sorted properly elsewhere I assume. This way you say spending the insane cash at this other garage you've got and can be put into other things, like tyres! If not, I'm sure there are other places, and a car cover.

I'm not trying to berate you here Steve, because it was completely crap what happened, but you were gonna spend the money getting the rear panel sorted and have the bodykit put on etc, so that would involve prep work anyway, and spraying. So factor in that and it REALLY isn't as bad as your making out. I realise you feel like crap about the whole thing, but I don't want you to sell something I know you love. In your own words "I'm never selling this car".

I don't want to stop everyone else from getting some good bargains, but I don't want to see you throw your car away either.

Those who have asked about prices etc on the thread & im PM will be responded to i a day or so - need to sit down and get some prices on things worked out.

Thanks for the offers guys but I'm stuck in a situation where I have no other option. Not a situation I wanted to face but no other choice :(

If anyone has a tired / almost dead set of s14/a shocks lying about I would be interested in stealing them for a cheappo price to allow me to take my coilovers off to sell.

Would prefer to sell locally as it's easier to get goods to their destination... but with the JAE fest at the end of the month there are extra options for acquiring goods.

Yup, fix it Mr. L.

You have the kit, chance to do a respray along with the kit and have a fab car. It really IS NOT that much work dude, honestly. All you can see right now is the pain of looking at a smashed window and scratched paint.

Have you put the windows in yet Steve?

Matthew

Wolfe

Windows not in yet. Waiting on Scott stripping his old s14 so I can steal the quarter panel. Have spent today cleaning up the shell as best I can as evidenced by these vague blurry progress shots (gotta love phones):

Front partially stripped:

Work started on cleaning up the arch:

Post clean up & repait with lovely Marineclean, metal ready & POR15:

Ive got a wire brush attachment for the angle grinder but it goes a bit mental 6000rpm. So Im uusing wire brush attachments for the drill as its more gentle and stable. I'm very lacking in knowledge, just stealing from Petrol's work :)

Lack of knowledge proved by the fact I appear to have a black paint stain on my face as well as my hands & forearms :(

Scougar

Because he had a 'push-of-war' with his local telegraph pole when trying to negotiate his driveway once-upon-a-time. he may be able to get it pulled out, but not sure it will be perfect. I'd recommened he just get's over fenders for the wider look but hey ho.

Sunday is currently looking ok. Not a huge amount we can do apart from pull a couple more panels off right now tbh. Got a week off work next month to do some heavy cleanup work on the shell. Should be pulling a few 10 hour days if things go to plan.
