Started up the PS13 grand yesterday and drove it up to the track planning on a weekend of drifting.Left it heat up,didnt dog it from cold or anything and it sounded like it was missing. Now the car wont take full throttle and spits and misses when the revs are raised to 3000-4000.
I changed the plugs, looked for any boost leaks and changed every hose that looked like it might be leaking but still no good.
It is blowing at the manifold to turbo gasket and slightly at the turbo to elbow gasket but would this be a reason for it to be missing/not starting.
The car is now(over the last 24hrs) sometimes refusing to even start.
I am also thinking it may be the ECU as i pulled that out just to have a look to see if something was up with my fuel pump relay switch wiring and the ECU it appears has been getting wet!!:censored:
Im gonna try and get an ecu to see if it will help but other than that would the blowing on the gaskets cause this missing, poor running & failure to start.
Its an SR20DET Redtop BTW

Any info much appreciated.
Sound:thumbs:

Not sure about anyone else, but I would compression test it before doing anything else.

your ecu could be the fault it is quiet common for this type of thing to happen to ae86's water got in to a mate of mines ecu and the same type thing started to happen if not have you checked your fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump??but i would think it is the ecu

Is the rubber grommet in the arch leaking water down into the footwell? I'd have thought if the ECU had got water in/around it, it would have killed it dead and not caused poor running before hand?

I'd be more inclined to follow what tweek said - check the regulator and pump, I had a similar issue not so long ago withe mine, above 3k it sounded like it was missing and losing power, i changed the plugs & compression test was fine, turns out the fuel pump was on it's last legs.

Could possibly be the pump, gonna put in a fuel cell so its external 255lph pump all the way

I had similar symptoms on my car when the AFM signal wire was not connected /damaged. It would rev to about 3-4k then splutter and backfire

I had a near identical situation with my MR2 Turbo and found the ECU to be faulty due to water. The ECU was located in the boot and one of the boot seals had perished letting water in causing the same issue.

Found that it was the main fuel line was corroded just before the fuel filter, sucking in air and not getting fuel:mad:
