Hey guys, ive just got some Option and Drift Tengoku CD's and when i try to play em, all i get is sound.. :(
It says "requesting codec" and then "Codec failed" or somthing on my media player, so i downloaded Version 9 of Windows Media Player, hoping that would fix it but to no avail :(
Ive downloaded the latest DivX (5.0.3?), and still no picture, just sound :(
Any idea's? Thanks
Paz
ok sounds like they might not be in DivX codec then.
Get hold of Virtualdub (free download, www.virtualdub.com ?) and attempt to load the clips into that. Virtualdub will let you know the way the video was encoded.

Just loaded it in and got the following message:
Couldnt locate decompressor for format "XVID" (unknown)
Virtual Dub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Meda Player, are not suitable.
Oookay..

Yay good stuff! XviD innit.. some kind of alternative divx style codec (and not just because it's spelt backwards :) )

Yeah that was really cool. There's also a completely stripped out Toyota people carrier in there racing up one of the hills! Many cool bits in all of them :)
would you be able to do some more copies? for a price:D

I only have Option 98, 100 (2 DVDs), 101 and Drift Tengoku 10, so please don't expect too much, but yes, I could get more copies done :) If you have a look at www.arkadvideo.com you'll see whats on all of them. They are all very, very good, especially the Drift Tengoku one.
I really need to get more Option DVDs though...
Don't mean to be a bit of a gimp, but could I possibly get in trouble for this...
HOLY COW @ Orido's Nascar !!! Two of the crew got second degree burns!!

Yes. Face on fire = bad.
That video is very very funny, and that's no exaggeration. Wait until you see the dirt oval car's steering wheel just pop off in the guy's hand! Funny joke!!
Cheers,
Graham
I've only watched Option 98 and drift tengoku 10 so far, me likes what me sees though:D
cheers

:)
XVid vs DivX ...
I believe that when DivX went commercial and started charging for their codec (pro version), people got pissed and decided to create their own codec. XVid was born. It appears to be better quality / smaller file size than DivX too, so can't lose :)

Yeah it appears to handle motion better too for some reason. I'm not an expert so I don't know why, but I ain't complaining :D
just got meself some of these cds, and followed a link to download the codec..... but i got 2 programs Minicalc and AviC.
erm.... wtf do i do now:confused:
please help :D
Ignore that. If the install program worked (which it seems like it did), windows media player will be automatically able to play the clips.

I have no idea what's wrong. It should be very simple. Have you tried a different Windows Media Player?
If Andy Fogg's about, could he help? He'll probably know more about it than me.
chances are it's my pc  basically it's fecked:mad: i'll keep trying tho:D

Yeah, you'd all better watch yourself. Watching these all night, renouncing sleep, driving to work next day trying to replicate the moves... Jesus, what have I done!?
:)
Cheers,
Graham
the only moves I could replicate from those are the crashes:rolleyes: :o

Yeah, I'd be the one that decks the cameraman!
that guy is seriously clumsy:eek: he also nearly drifts into a line of parked cars:rolleyes:

Looks an expensive hobby for sure... Losing at least one bumper or wing or spoiler or whatever looks par for the course.
I know what you mean Papa, the thing that gets me is they don't seem to give a ****! I'd be gutted if i ripped my bumper off let alone stacked my car like some of them do:eek: they just seem to laugh it off and do some mickey mouse breakdancing :D
spoze they got sponsorship tho:rolleyes: :D

The guys who drift up the mountains don't appear to care at all, they just drive about with broken skirts and bumpers. The D1 drivers have about another 5 bumpers in the support van, and they just tie them on with a couple of cable ties. I wish I had the money to not care... :(
its the mountain guys who get my respect, they don't care about appearance, just how good their drifting is:cool: (they just look cool anyway by coincidence:rolleyes: )
