Sorry mate, but it's a bit far for me to want to go. :(
No thanks, way too far to be a Cheltenham meet. Shouldn't this have a different title and be in the welsh section?

For the average Welsh meet which I arrange I travel 25-40 miles
Longwell Green which I have been known to attend is more like 90 miles each way
IIRC Japfest was more like 100 miles and I was the first through the gate :p:p

You're right in a way, Chris - I really should make the effort. It's just that my situation's a bit odd (for me, at least) and I don't want to be very far away from home at the moment. :(

Look I'm not trying to be awkward here but I think this thread should NOT be called "Cheltenham August meet"
Perhaps it would be better called "Anyone fancy driving to a welsh meet?" Then you wouldn't get fussy twats like me pointing out that this thread has nothing to do with it's title; and indeed it would've avoided this very confusion.
and there rests the case for the defence m'lud:wack: ;)
having said that, I really should make an effort to get to a welsh meet some time as I haven't really attended one yet(apart from a RR session or 2).
Now, to be honest Matt, I'm getting bored of turning up to an SXoc meet only to find there are very few SX's there at all. I don't want to look at Renaults or scoobys or skylines, I want to look at 200's. Are there lots of "other makes" of car at welsh 200sx meets or is it mostly 200sx's?

looking at last years pics there is usually a good turnout, if thats anything to go by:confused:
i've not done a welsh meet so other than that i dont know.
It is quite suprising how many of the member (and staff) of the club are no longer SX owners. I suppose its depends on what you look for in a meet, whether it be cars, people or alcohol:D.

Personally, I go to meets to meet board and club members and to see what they drive, not 200's specifically.
Though I seem to recall the last time I went to a Welsh meet the cars were all 200's apart from a battered Escort van, a Mondeo, an even more battered Transit van and a dodgy bloke in a Micra... :wack:
I agree with Phil to a point, the Cheltenham meet should still be left as the Cheltenham meet, first Saturday of the month, Gloucester Old spot, 2 o’clock, nice and simple, any road trips for the Cheltenham/Gloucester lot to go of to Wales or wherever should be on a separate thread.
My original point was that some people travel quite a way to the Cheltenham meet already, and with a good reason… good location, good drink and good company :sxoc:
It’s a shame we can’t all be in SX’s but when you don’t have one (or more commonly, they’re not on the road!) it’s not always possible. I own more SX’s than any other car and I wouldn’t dream off selling up, I also don’t think anyone should be excluded for not turning up in one.
Isn’t it best to build on what we’ve got and encourage more people to the meet we have, rather than try to move the whole thing to somewhere else?
Anyway rant over :wack: puts soapbox away

fair enough, i thought for just a meet some people might fancy a trip as part of the meet (like the ones we do to shakespeare every so often)
consider my lesson learnt.
I know we’ve had meets at other places before, bowling, Prescott, Shakespeare etc and I know Matt doesn’t mean any harm by suggesting a deferent location for this one, it’s just that before, when we’ve moved, it’s still been our meet, does that make sense?
Dan and me for instance, have to travel quite a way to get to Cheltenham already and then having to drive on to a different meet somewhere else seems pointless.
Lets have a separate thread to suggest that the regulars go somewhere else and make it more like when we convoy to Japfest.

Lets have a separate thread to suggest that the regulars go somewhere else and make it more like when we convoy to Japfest. But on the other hand seperate threads about one date could get messy with people committing to both
IMHO Matt was right to link to our meet to give people the choice to decide for themselves and keep it all under one roof so to speak
But on the other hand seperate threads about one date could get messy with people committing to both  It’s quite common to have separate threads on the same date surely? With all the regions of the SXOC it’s not inconceivable to have several meets on all around the country at the same time, they don’t all link to each other?
Anyway, I just can’t make it to Pembrey as it’s just too far, if the regular meets on I’ll come to that but otherwise I’ll have to catch up with the regulars some other time
Edit LOL at Matt editing his posts :D

Edit LOL at Matt editing his posts :DMeet dates very rarely clash as we organised them many moons ago (IE cheltenham first saturday Longwell second saturday and Welsh last sunday of each month ) which gives people willing to travel a choice but occasional blips occur :( In this case our meet clashes with yours but it was the only really available date closest to our regular date when you add in the fact that it is a camping meet rather than a 1 dayer

Nah, leave it up, Gaz. It's a good representation of 200's at a meet we are on about visiting anyway.
For what it's worth, there's no reason why some of us Cheltenham regulars who want to go to Pembrey (even though I said I didn't want to at first) can do for this month and those who don't want to go can carry on with the meet at The Old Spot as per usual.
The weather is set to be grand at both locations anyway.

right lets get this on topic.
i for 1 am going to be at Pembrey, there will still be a meet at the old spot as per usual for anyone who doesn't fancy the trip.
Not going camping are you Tom? In a tent?? On the ground??? :wack:
Is anyone actually going to the regular Cheltenham meet?
I stand by what I originally said. This thread was called "Cheltenham August Meet" but was not actually about the cheltenham august meet; which you must agree with as you've now changed the thread title. The problem now is that this thread is still about camping in wales and not about the Cheltenham August meet(confirmed by Matt's "lets get this on topic"), which in turn will probably confuse people who may now just say fcuk it, I won't bother with the cheltenham meet as it doesn't look like there'll be one. I'm still up for the proper Cheltenham meet but as we don't have a thread for it we might as well start a "Cheltenham September meet" thread. or should we have two 'Cheltenham August meet' threads?
There should have been a "Pembroke if ya fancy it" thread and the normal Cheltenham meet thread.
People getting confused by two threads with same date IMO just doesn't hold water; it's not hard, you choose one and refuse the other.
Jibber, no mate, I did not say that anyone is or isn't welcome to any of our meets depending on what car they take; indeed it is fairly obvious that the suggestion, if there is one, is that it is I who would not turn up to a meet full of non 200s. Everyone is welcome at our meets no matter what they drive but that doesn't mean I personally have to like it. This club is an SX owner club and I feel the emphasis should be on ..... ....200sx's. If you want a social that's fine and even a good idea but it's emphasis would be on being a social, not a 200sx meet. You could also combine the two but you shouldn't just confuse people because eventually there will be no Cheltenham meet left to attend.

did i not say there is both:confused:
i would also say this thread has just been blown into an argument which isn't help anyone or either event.
And i changed the title to try and make some sort of comprimise with your points, obviously not enough:rolleyes:
did i not say there is both:confused:
to be fair, yes but that doesn't stop it being confusing. I don't want to harp on about it Matt, I really appreciate everything I get out of the club and also very much appreciate the commitment made by Mods n staff especially. I just think that two very different subjects/meets should have two threads, nice and simple, no confusion for anyone:wack:
sorry if I sounded off like in a rant:notworthy (If you ever suffered a rant from me you know this isn't one,;) lol:smash:)

so to end the bickering, lets clear this up once and for all.. The CHELTENHAM MEET is going ahead as usual, 2pm Gloucester old spot.
IF anyone fancies a trip i will be heading to the Pembrey BBQ for a day out, if anybody else is interested then you are obviously more than welcome.
