Don't curse me too much for the next question:D

I am looking to buy a new car for the better half.

She likes the Saxo VTR

But when I test drove the one we have found, the tempreature gauge was bouncing from hot to cold, the car smelt fairly hot, there is a slight tappet sound to the engine and when reving there is a buble or popping sound.

Dealer says there is an air lock in the system????

The car is a 2001 model with 22000 on the clock, full history and should get it for £5-5,500 with warranty.

I have tried some of the Saxo sites but am not getting any Joy, all they appear interested in is fitting blue lights on the dash and big speakers in the boot.

Anyone on this site know if they suffer electrical and heating system problems on the VTR?

Guidance appreciated

dont know much about saxos but one thing i do know and that is never ever believe a used car salesman, if he gives a simple answer to a problem that u pick up then ask yourself this question. Why has he not had it rectified, after all a perfect car will sell much better than one thats seems a bit iffy

I'd walk away mate - the car sounds as if something is gonna go soon and whatever it is, it probably won't be cheep to repair!

There are that many Saxos available to the second hand market, you can afford to be choosy!;)

To answer your question though, I've not heard of any specific heating/electrical problems with the Saxo.

If it was a simple problem the dealer would have fixed it already. Walk away, there's plenty of Saxos out there
