Kev, just thought I would start the thread for the peeps to predict their BHP results at Star.

So come on everybody, list your spec and predicted power @ the wheels.

Is it OK for me and Kenny to cheat and list at the flywheel due to transmission losses?

Gee

Well I'll start.

91 Pulsar GTiR

Mongoose zorst, HKS Super Power Flow, HKS SSQ BOV, HKS Paddle Clutch, HKS AFR, HKS Iridium Plugs, 1 Bar Boost, Coilovers, Strut Brace, Black Diamond Combi Discs, Pagid Fast Road Pads, 15" Falken Racing Tarmac Alloys, Toyo Proxes.

Previous owner said he had a RR slip showing 316 BHP @ flywheel but after reading previous specs on the GTiR forum I predict 290BHP @ the flywheel.

Graham.

I would hope that with my limited mod's (decatted zorst with Janspeed back box, K+N panel, FBU @ 14 psi ona T25, colder plugs) I should be getting 190-ish at the wheels.

J:)

I've got... err...err.. an evo dump valve, IK24's, K&N panel filter, bren device@12psi, decat pipe on standerd cat back.umm...umm... think that's it as for power mods :)

predicted bhp: fook knows... over 200 at the wheels would make me smile :D

I reckon 260bhp at fly or (x 0.85) = 220bhp at wheels from the following:

1360kg weight

Goodyear Eagle F1s 215/45R17
Speciality Products EZ cam 81250 front camber adjusting bolts
Momo Tornado Steering Wheel
Clarion CD DRB4575R
Autometer 4701 Carbon Fiber Ultra-Lite 20psi Boost Gauge
K&N 75i Filter + cold air feed
Turbo Dynamics T25H p/n MD83 s/n J060JA
ND Actuator 18psi
Jez stage-2 chip 4000/7200rpm limits 15 degrees BTDC
Bosch Fuel Pump
SAAB FMIC + blue Samco hoses
NGK BCPR7ES spark plugs
Bailey Dump Valve
Powerflow 2.5" turbo back system with 5” Jap Box
Brembo 280mm 10 groove front discs + Pagid fast road pads
Castrol GTX Magnatec 10/40
LUK clutch kit
INSANE rear window sticker

Kev

mods:-
T28
Apex fmic
K+N with cold air box by then (hopefully)
Goose

Nout else really makes a differance power wise does it?

Im hoping for between 210 and 220@ wheels will be dissapointed with anything less.

Jonny, have to think ur a bit hopefull with that mate, sorry, but id imagine about a 20-30bhp increase with ur mods which would be more likely 190-200@fly not wheels.
Hope u prove me wrong.

Graham, no explanation needed, ive really just got the mod thing to make sure no-one posts porn links etc and no-one is antagonising anyone else etc.
And occasionally edit peeps posts for a bit of fun lol.
U certainly dont need to clear anything with me b4 posting ffs.

Btw thanks for making me feel like im "on the other side" :( :(

*off topic*
Martin, u not gonna fit the T25 back on for this week?
I mean instead of taking it off the road.

Kev

I got the following:

T28 @ 15PSI
pipercross induction kit
Dump valve
Full powerflow exhaust, 5'' jap back box
volvo FMIC
Apexi electronic boost controller
HD stage 2 chip (by next week)

Would be well happy with 220BHP @ wheels

...plus you have new paint!

I wonder what the bhp/rpm curves for the T28 vs T25H look like?

How do you like your Powerflow? I still dont play CDs!

Kev

Well this is wat a T28 @14psi and some heavy detting looks like:-

Oh btw u can see that the T28 still wants much more :(
Dam that bloody rev limiter:( :(

according to the ND engine tuning list (T28 @ 18psi) this should get you +90bhp on 170 standard, i.e. easily around abouts 260bhp at the fly... have you got a chip and a fuel pump upgrade?

Kev
30-03-2003, 18:57
same as u mike.

According to Jez's answer to my PM, if i wind it up ill be maxing out the injectors.
Might just try it for errr research, yeah thats it, research purposes:D :D

Mods as sig.

Not expecting a big increase from stock as I've not done a lot of mods.

Wouldnm't know what to expect anyway being a bit of an old novice.

Its not advisable to run T28's higher than 16psi IMHO anymore and you will need 444cc injectors, 300+bhp on standard injectors is possible but not recommended at all, also you will need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to get those figures.

Hi guys

The boost guage eventually turned up and its installed already.

So ... for Sunday I'll have the dawes installed ;)

For those folks interested, the Scooby std boost is 0.9/1.0 bar
in 3,4 and 5th.

I can safely turn the wick up by 15%.

So I reckon ... 215 bhp std @ fly + 15% = 245 bhp
Minus 25% 4wd transmission loses
Leaving me with a massive ... 183 bhp at the wheels - which is not bad.

So thats may prediction for the RR - 183 bhp @ the wheels.

Anyone disagree?

Cheers
Kenny

Kev, are you going to keep a tally of the biggest bhps/shiniest car/outrageous spoilers?

Kev
09-04-2003, 22:57
Err sure if u tell me why i should instead of u?
Me is only one person, but u r super mike, and i think i win silliest spoiler already lol.

I vote we givre the job of tally keeping to Mike.
Ps. if u wanna have a proper vote go a head, but ill rig it so everyone votes u Mike:p :p :D

That sounds about right for flywheel figures Kenny. I did think the 4wd losses were much greater than 25% though? I'm not sure but I think thats round about what some 2WD boys use for tranny loses.

I recon that 245bhp at the fly should be right though :)

Dunc.

What about a prize for running in new parts by thrashing them on the rollers(fingers crossed an all that)

Kev
13-04-2003, 16:04
so who was close to their figures?

Midgers
13-04-2003, 16:17
well it looks like 200 at the wheels was a TAD optimistic... 170 at the wheels if that's the only figure that counts... eh Kev ;)
225 @ fly :D that't the one i'll be quoting then ;)

I got 256.5 @ fly and 206.5 at wheels = 49.0 or 20% transmission losses so wrong on wheels but close on fly...

Gee
13-04-2003, 19:29
I predicted 290 @ flywheel and got 304 so I wasn't far away!
