I remember watching Stu Hamm playing with Satriani a few years ago - he did a super flashy slap solo with an enormous prosthetic thumb.

I've hardly played since - what's the point.....:(

I'd imagine that one method would be to tune the strings to thirds or somethign like that, then play two together. If you look at the spacing, that is the only thing I can think of.
Have mailed him to ask how high the reserve is :)
