Its about time it finally had its own project thread :wack:

I bought the car back in june 06..... nearly completely standard (apart from alloy wheels and a :ghey: exhaust) - from the day i bought it ive been in my overdraft and its starting to get worse!

anyway, a few weeks after buying it the original engine decided to die.... so bought Pete C's ND engine and it all started there... over the next few months it ended up having lots of new toys fitted every few weeks and before long the spec list ended up looking something like this:

Engine:
CA18DET 1831cc
CA16DE Inlet Cam
Trust 1.2mm Metal Head Gasket
Garrett GT28R Turbo with Braided Oil Feed
Forge Motorsport Adjustable Actuator
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Z32 MAFS
R32 GTR 444CC Injectors
HKS Hiper Muffler Turbo-Back Exhaust
Cosworth intercooler
K&N Induction Kit
H-Dev Stage 3 Chip

Handling:
Apex Performance coilovers (8/6 kg/mm spring rate)

Wheels & Styling:
(Exterior)
5 Stud Hub Conversion
Ultralite A-Tec 17x8" Front
Ultralite A-Tec 17x9" Rear
Despoilered

(Interior)
S15 200SX Interior
3 Gauge Panel (Centre Vent)
52mm Autometer UltraLite Boost Gauge

Brakes:
Skyline R33 GTS-T 4-Pot Calipers
Ferodo DS2500 Front Pads
DB-Power 330mm Big Brake Conversion with D&G Disks
300ZX Z32 Rear Calipers & Disks
EBC RedStuff Rear Pads
Goodridge Braided hoses

After a few months of having it at that spec, i soon got bored of the power and wanted more! the options were to either do another rebuild on the engine to include all forged bits to take the extra power and include all the other bits to match, or an RB25 (due to RB26's being considerably more expensive!)

So off i went.. looking into the costs involved in RB'ing....

about a week later the engine was paid for, i was on the lookout for all the bits i needed and most of the engine/ecu parts that were already on the car got sold on to help fund it..

Many months later (but well worth the wait (and i havnt even got past the running in stage yet!! :D) 99.9% of the work is complete...

I havnt got a clue why, but for some reason i havnt taken any photos of the engine bay with everything connected up.... probably too busy cleaning it and driving it to remember!!

i take no credit at all for building the car.. i just fund it and drive it...... Mike AKA Buffy @ Stealth performance has fitted/made/worked his magic with absolutely everything for the last 2 years on the car (apart from making the top radiator hose for the RB - i had to do this as he was falling asleep after 2 nights? with no sleep:D) :notworthy:notworthy

And i know how many all nighters have gone on to build it, especially when it was at the final stages and i was there myself :D Thanks Mike

mind me askin the cost?

too much? :wack:

To be honest...... at the start i made a list of everything i sold and everything i had bought to try and work out how much it was costing me but it wasnt long before i lost track of it :D (after getting all the main parts, as the car was progressing i was continually buying extra bits along the way)

I would say you could probably spend anywhere between £3000-£5000+ on your main parts, then if you want the engine rebuilt (which i did) add extra for that - obviously depends on where you get it done - you can spend hundreds on the parts for that alone so that can get expensive aswell depending on what you want

Give buffy a ring and ask for a quote on doing it (there might be a queue though - i know hes done 2 of these conversions so far (maddas car is my cars twin sister nearly :p) and theres another one about to start aswell) :)

getting common as muck these RB'd 200s now :p you wont be dissapointed when you get it back.. im in love with everything about it, specially the noise :smitten:

It probably stay totally standard for a few hundred miles after running in (thatll be about 2 weeks!!) just to make sure everything is right, then knock it up to 1 bar boost which should take it to the 400bhp mark which should keep me happy for a while until i save up some more pennies... after that who knows! i think its safe to say ill soon get bored of 400 and be aiming for lots more :wack:

Just fitted my latest addition. a nice OMP WRC steering wheel which adds another £150 to the cars build price :cry:now to go buy some expensive oil :annoyed:

as soon as it stops raining and ive cleaned it all up a bit more ill take some pics of the engine now its complete and get a few interior shots aswell... maybe even a video so you can hear the noise :smitten: :)

the rev counter just bolts in on the original mounts and is linked up exactly the same as the standard one - only thing is there is a gap around the edge - at the moment ive blocked that up with a bit of black silicon but its a bit messy, so im tempted to get a small bit of plastic, cut it to shape and glue it around the edge to get it looking a bit tidier

Ive had a profec B sat in the car for a while waiting for me to make a new home for it under the CD player.... so tonight out came the old flippy cubby hole thing, a few knives/saws/files etc :wack:

an hour or 2 later and it ent up looking like this:

http://chri5.co.uk/images/RBSX/int02.jpg

It fits perfectly (probably the best thing ive ever made myself :wack:ha) - now just need to get it wired up :)

the colour is slightly out so not sure what im going to do with it... i might take that section of the interior out and spray it black.. or maybe not... dont know yet!

will probably add a fan switch on the side of it aswell

If you need any advice or instruction on the profec wiring drop me a PM :) It's 15 minutes work for even the slowest of workers if you know how to do it :) Also fairly simple to set up!

Will be interested to see how it works with all that power and full boost available in all gears :D
