My company has just decreed that all us company car gimps have to go on a defensive driving course - it came from Group HQ in the states....

Step 1:
Make sure the rear Yokos are knackered
Step 2:
Ensure less than 1/2 tank of fuel
Step 3:
tweak the wastegate
Step 4:
Remove all ancillary weight
Step 5:
Put my ARDS license away
Step 6:
Borrow joke-shop beer goggle glasses from mate
Step 7:
Pray for rain
Step 8:
Scare the instructor muppet senseless with a display of defensive driving - tarmac spec Manta 400 style!! ;)

My firm also makes us do them if the company car is over insurance group 16 or if its soft top. Leon Cupra means that I have to spend 3.5 hours in the car one Saturday (my time), then hand the keys to the wife for similar. Should be more positive i.e. free driving course etc but can't help but feel I could be doing something more interesting.

p.s. you may want to reconsider the free fuel thing (even look at paying the co back for the fuel you use) the tax implications from April onwards make this not so desirable.

20,000 private miles per annum, with the 200 averaging about 18mpg at best?
