View Full Version : Silvia is broke! Can anyone help?

Hey guys i am desperately in need of your help.

Yesterday, i was driving the silvia home when i started hearing this squeaking everytime i dipped the clutch. Today/just now the problem just got 100 times worst. I dip the clutch in gear and the car revs drop 2 100 - 500 revs and stalls. This happens when it is in and out of gear. if i just knock it out of gear then the car is fine, idols fine.

So the prblem is defo gearbox/clutch related. Now i know the second gear was being a bitch to get in but went in. This has always been since i had the car.

When i dip the clutch (out of gear) you can hear a constant squeaking and wereing and sometimes the pedal stays depressed almost to the floor. It feels like as if you have the handbrake and your just lifting the clutch off the floor and you get that judder and the revs dip.

Does anyone know what this would be?? i am currently stuck in work with the car doubtfull it will get home.

hay mate where abouts do you work as if you need a tow i have a 4x4 and more than willing to give you a tow. as for the problem i had some thing like that befor with the peddle stuck down but on myn it was just th cluch was going. let me now about a tow tho

Sounds like your clutch relese bearing has gone if it is you may as well change the whole clutch when your in.

release bearing or slave cylinder. if it still drives. DONT drive it any further as its very close to breaking.

had exactly the same thing happen to me last week, started sqealing in the morning, drove it about 20 miles to the track, first lap first corner, clutch kicked it and it died. havnt actually taken it apart to check yet but itll be one of the two

yeah, same happend to mine didnt it, and if you carry on driving you will probably muller you cover as well, which means a new clutch. :(

Clutch release bearing is fecked mate

Thanks guys, where can i get a release bearing from and how much are they? Also are the bearings all standardised? or will i have to get a special one as i have a twin plate?

Deffo dont drive it then!!! I have a twin plate, £325 for the clutch cover, £30-£40 for the bearing. It was an expensive mistake leaving it!! I also bought a nismo slave cylinder which racked up the bill even more.

I didnt realise you had a twin plate man, really hope you have caught it soon enough. :indiff:

i think soon enough was probably last nite mate :( are they really that much for the cover? if it has gone 100% gonna break this car

Car is fixed now :) gear changes are so much better now. Now stalling now :)

wat a pain in the arse the gearbox was todo!! never again

Selling it whole if i can as i don't want to break it. May end up breaking though if no-one buys it. Not in a major rush to sell it though as will be gutted when it's gone!

Hope someone buys it,its a good solid car! Hate seeing them broken up!
