Does anyone know for deffo if the 22Mb stuff is compatible with 11Mb kit? Obviously CAT5 networks work fine on different speeds, ie 10/100, but I was wondering if 22Mb uses a totally different frequency to 11Mb?
Cheers,

does it sa Wi-Fi on it?
AFAIK it's an extension of 802.11b so should be compatible with .11b and .11g when it's out but will prolly only run at 11Mbs on hardware other than it's dedicated stuff. US Robitics i think are the only people claiming 22Mbs, could be wrong.
802.11g get ratified in May supposedly, I'd be tempted just to wait until that comes out as it is compatible with .11b but s 54Mbs and used the same frequency as .11b
802.11a is 54Mbs but is shite and has piss poor range and permeability.
802.11a uses 5GHz, .11b and .11g use 2.4GHz.
Buffalo are selling 54Mbs .11g stuff already which is 54Mbs but as it isn't ratified yet means the protocol is open to change, however i gather Buffalo will upgrade or replace any .11g hardware that doesn't conform to the ratified version of .11g
Does that make sense?
Wireless & how we are going to cover the university in it has been my life at work for a while. :)
Right did some investigation...
look here, it does seem that it's just an extension of .11b

This is a damn good resource too.

yes it's backward compatible :)
I'm writing this via my new Linksys Wireless-G broandband router (£94 + vat) and my wireless-G notebook adapter (£49 + vat) all seems excellent and is totally compatible with the netgear 11mb adapters I have in my other kit.

Cheers - I'm using it to get to my broadband connection at home, so the speed is not an issue - it's only going to really be transmitting a 0.5Mbps line. My company sold me a 22Mb card for 20 quid, but I don't want to fork out for a 22Mb router/access point.
Thanks for the info chaps :)
