View Full Version : LOTR detail thread - just for Hayley :D
Inspired by your comment on the Oscar's thread and seeing how much you love it, LOTR :)
I was amazed to see the amount of detail they put into the costumes and swords even though you'd never see it in the film. Like the Elvish script on the blades of the swords. I love stuff like that, completely pointless, but just goes to show how much they cared making that film!!

:D :D :D
Thanks Dave. Yes I'm completely obsessed, BUT, I think my comments are right. All that costume and fine detail and they don't win. Fixed.
Andy bought me the book about the film for Christmas and it shows and explains what went into the film. They had to build life size horses for the dead ones on the battle scenes and a life size Boromir for the scene going over the water fall in FOLR. It seems unfair that these people didn't get more credit.
Anyway I won't go on anymore. ;) :D
Does the book have any extra stuff that the extras on the special edition DVD didnt have?
Dave
The book is 191 pages full of facts, interviews and incredible pictures. It's all about how they made the trilogy, covering special effects, make-up, costume, locations, cast, backstage crew, special effects, everything. There are interviews and pictures of so many people, like the armour makers (don't know the proper name), and even the guy who did the calligraphy. I haven't read it all yet but it really is fantastic. There is photos of the store rooms and the models, like Helm's Deep model with a real dog lying in front of it. So weird.
It's a great book if you are interested in the film and how it was all done. :)
Oooh, might have to take a look at that. Got the ISBN number handy?
Dave
If I knew how to use the scanner, I would show you some of the piccies. :( I can when Andy gets home if you want. :)
ISBN: 0-00-713567-X. Printed £12.99 on mine.
Top Banana. Thanks Hayley :)
