View Full Version : Interview Presentations
Got an interview on Thursday for a job I really like the sound of (yay) :D
I have to do a presentation 'on any subject I want'. I've no problem presenting (I do them all the time in work) but hate being told it can be on anything :( What are you supposed to do, make it work related to try and look keen, or do it about a hobby/outside work interest to try to look like you have a personality?
It doesn't help that I work in Financial Services, there aren't exactly a lot of subjects that are work related and make you look like you have a personality, because most topics are quite hard to get excited about
Any one else had experiance of these types of things, or just got an opinion on what would come accross better? :)
I guess a presentation on getting p1ssed is out of the question  :D

How about a presentation on the financial side of car importing. Keeps it at least slightly interesting for yourself as it's about cars and has plenty of financial stuff that (i guess) may be relevant to your job.

how about a presentation on something you've achieved/had success with in the workplace environment, eg roll out of a project? cos then you'd have had an interest in it so would be enthusiastic (relatively speaking!) about it, and its related directly to your work.
Thanks guys :) I guess being in the situation I'm in (i.e. facing redundancy, all be it from a job that I h8) means you kind of forget there are some aspects of life/work to be genuinely enthusiastic about :)

oh yeah just noticed you're the same person :D
just thought i'd say... never slag off your previous employer in the interview ie best not mention the leaving present! it doesnt make a good impression at all.
good luck with the interview :)

How about doing a presentation on interview skills. The debacles a candidate goes through prior to an interview. Choices of dresswear. What to do a presentation about etc. I reckon it would hold their attentions better than most subjects cos its different to others and applies directly to your situation. Would be different at least... :)

how about the importance of training in interviewer techniques :D
I really get annoyed when I can clearly see the interviewer just doesn't have a clue about how to carry out recruitment interviewing. (ie about 90% of interviewers in interviews)
(I studied how to interview as part of my management course ;) )
Could you imagine being interviewed for the job as an interviewer?
Good Luck. :)
Do a little research and then present a subject that is relevent to the organisation you are applying to. They will be impressed that you have taken the trouble to find out a little about them and also at your knowledge of their sector. Particularly good if you can do a little problem solving for them, or show a new system of working. Show them how much of an asset you could be to their organisation.
Remember - they need you!
Oh and good luck.
