does anyone know of a localish garage to chelt/glos/witney that will do helicoiling?? my friggin oil feed to the turbo from the block, the thread in the block has munched to death... found out last person to put the oil feed on (wasnt me) instead of using the correct m12 x1.25 pitch banjo used a m12 x 1.5 banjo and buggered all the threads :( so now i have to get it tapped or something im not sure what to do, i thought about getting like a threaded alloy fitting welded to the block so it sticks out then getting a new pipe made up... but not sure if that is possible, and really dont wanna take the block out to do it :(

so does anyone know of a garage that can helicoil? or can do something to fix it in place?? its supposedly possible... place in bristol will do it for 25 quid i just cant get the car there as it dumps the oil soon as u turn the key and my breakdown company will only take me in a 20 mile radius of my house if collected from home...

You're in gloucestershire, surely you live on a hill, so can roll away from home :wack:

In all seriousness though, you could do a few different things.

Get a mate to arrive at your place, and use his breakdown cover.

The way to keep your consciense clean though is to go to hellfrauds and buy a tap of the correct size and re-tap it. It may be do-able. Failing that, also at the likes of hellfrauds, I think you can get DIY helicoil type things :)

hnmmm i dont trust myself to tap it... last time i tried to tap something i broke the tap inside the piece i was tapping... they dont come out easy lol... would prefer to find some sort of mobile guy who will come do it then i can put it back together... though im thinking getting a aeroquip type fitting welded on to the block might be easier...
