The questions in the title, I have a JVC DV in/out video camera
and I want to transfer the output to my PC's hard drive rather than my VCR.

Lots of IT people on here so I'm hoping someone will tell I just need to buy video camera to USB cable *** from pc cables limited.

Doubt it's going to be that simple though:rolleyes:

Someone want to prove me wrong:)

most dv cameras use firewire.

Best bet is to read the instructions and see what connections it lists.

Instructions, ohh err don't usually look at them until something breaks.:D

I have USB connection for the memory card/still camera side of things but it doesn't mention connecting to anything other than a VCR on the video output.

Still of to dogpile one more time,

thanks Cookie.:)

Dabs do a firewire card + cable + software for under 20quid, works fine.

Or go to a local PC World/Dixons?Curries and get one for £29.99. Bit more money but easier to sort out any warrenty issues.

Cheers, Alex.

Dabs are fine for warrenty.

Some high street stores are not.

That is all i am willing to say.

I have pinnacle studio dv or sommat, and that comes with all the bollox you need.

But basically, as above.

I have a JVC 167 something or other and it works fine :)

I only view it as jealousy! ;) j/k

We have a lot in common, Japanese, 2.0 litre engine, turbo charged, rear wheels are driven (so are my fronts :p ) and we both hate novaboys!

Ive been to a couple of SXOC meets with my S14 mate and you're a good bunch of guys!

p.s. Ive been using my Dabs card for a while with great results, kinda spooky when the PC starts rewinding and playing the Cam thru the firewire lead

BTW Quick linx on Dabs are indeed quick - try simply putting www.dabs.com/ with the code on the end

http://www.dabs.com/17ZKWS for example
