See below e-mail from Knockhill. I suggest we pick a date and all go on the Hot Marques. Post and let me know what you think and I'll see when they have spaces. I think we'll need Helmets, but I think they can be hired...

Kev, any thoughts?

"Hi Mike,
Depending on how many guys you're going to bring along there are a coule of options I would suggest.
Firstly you could book your own track night, these run on mid-week days only and from 6pm-8pm. You would have exclusive use of the track for the duration for your members and the cost is £975+vat. If this is the option you like then I suggest you book quickly as there is only three remaining dates for the year.
The other option is to book places on one of our Hot Marques nights. The places cost £50 each so if there was only 10 of you coming this would be a better option. However you would need to book in advance as these nights are limited to 40 cars so that we can run an open session all evening
I hope this is of some help to you but if you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to contact me on 01383 723 337
Yours Sincerely
Sasha Brunton"

This sound better on the wallet but I'm a bit nervous about possibly sharing the track with sombody in a wreck/trackday car that they ain't afraid of damaging.

Hot Marques is supposed to be for "nicer" cars and Hot Hatch day is for wrecks! Does anyone live near to checkitout?

We've got 16 pretty easy for the RR day so if we hired the place it would be around 70quid, that way we could let people go out to try a bit of drifting and they wont get in the way of folk who just wanna go fast. I wouldnt mind an extra 20quid if it ment it was just us.

Mike could u find out how much time is involved for the hot marque nights, is it still only 6pm to 8 pm?
Id suggest leaving it for a month or so, so that it will still be light at 8pm.
And how much time would actually be spent on the track if they had 40 entrants?
And how much in advance would u have to book?

Kev

Sounds like a top idea Mike, although as Martin said, I would prefer to pay a bit extra to get the circuit to ourselves. TBH I think we could get close to twenty folk easy for an event like this.... I'm sure some of the Northeners would be willing to travel up if we were short on numbers.

I'd best wait untill the Hot Hatch day :( :o

Seriously though, I'm DEFFO going to this if we organise something. If my cars not insured I'll just get it towed through. But I'll DEFFO turn up :)

The whole place to ourselfs sounds tremendous. Could we include a few other non-200sx boys (GTIR or MR2) to get the price down by having over 20 guys there? It would mean alot more track time (compaired to Top Marques day) and no tossers (just peeps we know, mates etc). Whatever we do is fine though.

What do I need to check out? - I'm close and have been to the hot-hatch days before. It'll be superb to have a blast around a proper race track :)

a bit more info form those helpful people...

Hi Mike,
The dates we have available at the moment for track nights are Friday 18th April, Thursday 31st July and Monday 25th August. If you like the idea of booking a night we need a 25% deposit to hold a date for you, I would suggest that you book quickly as I have e-mailed 4 other clubs about these dates but it's first come first served so there's still time for you to nab one for yourselves!
If you'd rather go for the Hot Marques option the dates are 29th April, 3rd June, 8th July and 12th August all from 6pm-8pm and also 16th September from 5pm-7pm.
All cars must be of a safe roadworthy standard but we do not ask to see MOT's so just use a bit of common sense. Helmets can be borrowed at no charge but must be signed in and out. If any go missing then we have to charge for the hat. There is a basic insurance included in the price which covers loss of life or limb and as far as insurance is concerned for your car, then it's down to the individual policy. You'd be surprised how many policies will still pay out as long as you're not officially racing!
And yes, all you need to bring is your car. When you sign on you're signing that you have a full license, a passenger can be taken out and they also need to sign on but don't require any license.
I hope this all helps and I'll hear from you soon
Yours Sincerely
Sasha Brunton

I cant make it on Thursday 31st July or Monday 25th August.
So I could only make a hot marques one, but I want to do a track day for drifting not speed, that probably wouldnt be allowed at a hot marques night.:(

i'm keen to come along - i did a KH track day in the clio last year.

2 hours for 38 quid great value, because one of the guys at work
lives next door to Stuart Gary the manager of KH.

i don't mind of its a hot marques night or a special for us.

if all we really want to do is some drifting etc, what about
Crail racetrack? Its got to be cheaper than knockers.

Cheers
Kenny

PS. my boost guage arrived - but it turns out to be a temp
guage - b**llocks

Crails cheap to hire out, but the circuit is like the surface of the moon in places.

Kev

Yeah Mike looked into Crail but the guy wasnt really that forthcoming and i really wasnt impressed by the state of crail last time.

And to totally contradict myself.......... anyone heading up there in the near future?

hi kev

i'm thinking of going up this sunday with scooby.

i've not done the 1/4 mile in the scooby so very interested in what it can do - I've read in some sources low 14s can be expected. But I reckon you need to fry the clutch to do that.

this sunday is fast ford mag day - so expect lots of cossies and
escorts etc.

Dunc, you're next car maybe there, check it out????

Cheers
Kenny

Not sure if its the WRX or STI but one of them should be capable of 13.99, probably the STI

Kev,

I hope to be going to Crail soon, probably wait till after the RR meet though.

If my old 200 was getting 14.3 I am hoping for low 13's or maybe high 12's in the Pulsar, my HKS clutch has no problems at all with 6000RPM launches. :D

Deffo want to go in convoy next time though, it brightens up the long drive there.

I am also well up for a Knockhill trackday but would really prefer it to be only us on track.

er... I think I'll make a decision! Hold on... eeerrrrhhhh..here it comes!

Since there's only 3 days left to hire the track I'm gunna sugest the 29th April or the 3rd June. I prefer sooner rather than later cos I feel the need for speed!

So, who can make 29th and who can make the 3rd?

Kev, no editin!

either date is fine by me - although, thursday 3rd june ties in with our monthly get together - so it would seem sensible to combine the events.

Replacing the rally slag or as well as? S13 /14 /14a ?

BTW boys did you see that Nana from Option Motorsport's drift S13 is up for sale on autotrader for 16G's ?

Yeah, June would be the better date for me (give me time to get some more mod's done) :D.

Brian, saw the advert, 16 thou's a loada money tho'. If I was gonna spend that much on a 200sx it would be the newest 180sx type X import I could find and I'd still have a few grand to mod it with (not to mention a 2 litre lump as standard........ ah, I can but dream  :) ).
You bringin' the Supra to the next meet mate? I'm lookin' forward to seein' it.

Also Dunc it says they expect all cars to be in a roadworthy state.
they may well decide not to let u on mate.

Don't worry Kev, I'm driving the car there. Its also got MOT. I'm just using a trade plate instead of car tax. The trade plate can be shoved under the seat when I get there.

They can inspect my car all they want if they are going to be like that, they won't find any probs.
