My home cinema subwoofer is broke :( Does anyone have any suggestions of where I can get another one for minimum bucks (under £80) as I'm a bit skint

Richer Sounds have some good cheap ones but their out of stock (as per bleedin' usual)

BTW does anyone want the remains of the old one to see if they can fix it? The sub is pretty gutsy and used to make the house shake :D I've took it to bits to see if I could fix it and the cones themselves are pretty large and heavy, they could possibly be put to some other good use. If you were a serious bass head I guess you could even put them in your car

Any suggestions appreciated :)

Jeff

I like to think I'm pretty good with electrics :)

Are there any obvious broken wires/blown bits in there mate?

Nope, it looks pretty simple really but I think some of the little components are knackered rather than the solder/connections breaking on anything.

Initially the volume knob was just making the thing hiss as you turned it, then eventually it stopped doing anything. I reckon it's that bit wots broken. There's another bit that changes the output frequency and that's stopped doing anything to. :(

I very scientifically poked random bits with a screwdriver to no avail

There's a good shop in Bath the fixes Hi-fi stuff. It's called Maple Audio and it's up on Bear Flat.

If it's only summat simple that's gone might be a lot cheaper to take it there :)

Cheers Pete, I'll put it back together again and try taking it up there :)

Thanks Gaz, I'll have a browse of that site and see if I can find anything :)
