I'd love to see what the car can do with launch control used. I know you probably never will tone, but just as matter of interest.

Is there some restriction to using LC in dragging?

cheers everyone...

was getting into it when the fan belt let go :( thought I could have done better.. theres always the next month..

we will be looking at launch control so with a bit of luck I might
be able to get her off the line..

also going to try some other tyres....

Jezz_S13
20-05-2008, 17:22
Something to fill the boost/torque void in first gear is what's needed, you could launch it at more sensible revs then meaning less wheelspin.

It's always going to be a problem launching at 6k with a long first gear, the car should be doing 40mph at 6k in first, so it's going to spin up badly; any less than that then it's going to bog down. Ballache!

Some sort of ALS (nitrous probably easiest?) to give you some sensible boost/torque at ~3-4k is needed.
Maybe compound charge it?

I'm guessing that you launch at 6k, but I expect it's somewhere around there.

why not try a bigger burn out ;)

Butuz
20-05-2008, 18:44
True - a nawwwws shot at lower RPM's would see that car doing silly times I recon.

Problem is - I don't think tony's :ghey: enough to use traciton control or nos :D

Butuz

dobergoose
20-05-2008, 18:45
A 2 step rev limiter:thumbs: Bee-r or msd, I've used both, msd cuts much smoother so builds boost quicker, doesn't help with traction but lets you see positive boost while stationary.

Oh and well done mate. Not be long til your in the tens.

Bigtone
20-05-2008, 18:56
T/C and naws will never ever go on my car......

we will have launch control and Im going
to try a set of these...

Jezz_S13
20-05-2008, 19:06
Some proper ALS then?
Grippier tyres might just bog you down more. :(

How about 4WD? :wack:

Bigtone
20-05-2008, 19:22
Some proper ALS then?

How about 4WD? :wack:

then we'll use more revs

4wd = gay

Jezz_S13
20-05-2008, 19:29
But more revs means more wheel spin as it'll be wanting to go 50mph instead of 0 then. :D
Need some torque lower in the revs just to get you off the line, then once you're moving you're laughing all the way to the line. :)

One of these to compliment the turbo perhaps...
http://www.joeblowracing.com/images/ProChargerHeadUnitLogo.jpg

A roots would be better, drive it straight inline off the crank bolt; but you might have to cut a slot in your rad and IC. :)

Yeah i know, that's why the :wack:

Jezz_S13
15-06-2008, 20:10
I would guess the cylinder pressure was greater than the clamping force excerted by the bolts therefore allowing the G to distort.

Get rid of the HG and use some of the adhesive that Ferrodo use to glue their friction material to the steel backing plates of their brake pads, and glue the head on. :wack:

Jezz_S13
17-02-2009, 17:00
Most of the mods are one offs, or nothing to do with Norris.
However Norris has done all of the tuning and the original build.

Buffy, and dare I say it, Tone do most of the work now.
Though I've just got off the phone to Tone and it's off down there soon for a few bits to be sorted for the new season.
New drive shafts have arrived so he might get off the line this year. :D
