JAE @ Mersea Island on 29th-31st August 2008
Sorry this hasn't been organised sooner but the club has under gone a big re-org over the past months!
For those who have never been.
The Japanese Auto Extravaganza (JAE) is the ultimate Japanese car club event for the keen owner, enthusiast and enthusiastic amateur.
Over the course of a weekend it is the place for like minded owners and traders to meet up and enjoy what is the popular Japanese car culture, it has been previously quoted as "the perfect way to business"
The Venue
This year its being held at Mersea Islands 'East Mersea Camp' ...
Remote and safe location
Grassy well kept camping ground throughout the venue with hardstand pedestrian access routes to the main buildings
Log Cabins suitable for larger groups, families or individuals with special requirements ( not able to camp )
On site toilets and shower blocks
Large function hall and admin buildings
Large Canteen hall and professional kitchens (doubles up as an extra function room if required )
Fully stocked licensed bar and outside seating area :thumbs::thumbs:
Hardstand areas for food stalls and function room overflow areas
Complete range of on site activities such as climbing walls, frames, kids areas
Public Beach on site :cool:
Outdoor swimming pool with lifeguards

Camping/Accommodation
Camping will be free for members although limited!!!!! Courtesy of :sxoc:
Stand spots available although limited!!!
There are also several log cabins for those with access problems that can be arranged (if still available!)
For those who want to attend the weekend but not the camping type... here is a list supplied by the organisers of JAE of alterative places to stay...

Entrance costs - At present we will not be providing advance tickets :( The prices are for your reference
Nice and simple!!!
Adults: £15 (Whether you stay for 5mins or the whole weekend!)
Under 12's: £10
Under 5's: Free
ENTRY TIMES
FRIDAY - The show opens from 10am. The gates will be open until midnight
SATURDAY - The gates are open from 7am until midnight
SUNDAY - The gates are open from 7am and the show closes at 5p
MONDAY - You can camp overnight on Sunday if you wish but must be away on Monday morning
What we need from you guys and gals
As mentioned before spots are limited...
A total of 75 stand spots!
There is a £5 stand reservation fee for those who want to be on the stand which is non refundable if you say your coming but dont turn up!!... and although this doesnt go towards your entrance fee it is redeemable against club merchandise or will be given back to you when you arrive (works out better to go for the merchandise no postage etc!)

Can I ask a question? May not know the answer
Once cars are lined up will they be required to be moved again? i.e. Last time I was at JAE with the Supra the cars were parked up but on Sunday they were moved again for club photo and also to allow the Sunday people in the the club space too.

I agree with Ken. Perhaps a compromise if you won't give it back, might be to let us put it to EITHER merchandise OR payment to future national or regional events? :thumbs:

No you pay £5 now to reserve your stand space, you pay £15 on the gate when you get there for the weekend and then you wi get your £5 back :thumbs:

can it also be clarified how much space is available? as first come first served could well be a kick in the bawsack after driving for pheck knows how many hours.

Yes we have several club support vehicles already so they wont allow loads of them as they are not stupid ;)
We confirmed this week with the Org that we are attending and have booked a 100 car stand (enough space for 75 cars and the marquee with some space for events) and 3 camping plots (each one is 20m sq) :thumbs:
Anyone that doesnt get on the reserved camping area can use the public camping area :) so there is plenty of space :thumbs: Obviously there is only so much space near the stands.

I was just wondering. What time does it actually start on the Friday? Is the Friday basically just setting up and the night time shenanigans? Im going to arriving Saturday morning and staying the Sat night. What im thinking is though, should I stay the Friday night and have all day Sat to walk about?

Depends on your definition of "civilised" really.
The worst I've seen during the day is lighthearted banter with a bit of bad language and some pretty horrible looking hangovers.

Yeah it seems family freindly... there is a quiet camping area away from the stands if you feel it would get abit much... There is a playground and there is the beach.
Hopefully all the people attending will remember there manners around children... if not we will set up a swear box and donate to charity :thumbs:

1. Yeah advance tickets are cheaper by £3 unless the club subsidises them further... if not then after the hassle of organising the tickets... postage etc its not a massive saving... It has already been discussed amoungest the mods and at present is being left.
2. We are in the Fuji area... i was waiting for the final map to be drawn up before posting because as you would have seen from the other club the stand positions change abit this early on in the organisation... but if you want i can post the pic up!
3. They will only need to be moved for those leaving early in the weekend even though closer to the time we will be looking at this so we can organise the stand spots as best possible for everyone... no point doing it this early in the day as numbers are still growing and there are other events with our attention at the mo!
All stuff we have in mind and under control!!

I'm having a retarded moment... Are the stated dates of 29th - 31st refering to the show it's self? Or is that including the pre-setup day? The reason i ask is that i've booked thursday and friday off work thinking JAE is gonna be 4 days this year instead of 3.

Thursday is a setup day and only staff are attending as the organisation has said they are only letting limited number in. The show itself is Fri-Sun with the possibility to stay over sunday night as well AFAIK :thumbs:
