As the title. How do I remove the top speed restrictor in my Jap import? I dont care about the clocks reading in KMH, I just wanna drive fast (on private roads )
Mines an SR20DE S13 Silvia.
Cheers
you need a de-limiter chip... solder a few wires to the back of the dash.. also converts it to mph :)

Get a "T" lmao
....on a more serious note, you can buy them on ebay for a few quid :)
Im assuming you have tested this in a safe enviroment wearing all the correct safety equipment? :D
You need to cut the speed wire that goes from the back of the speedo to the ecu. Its a while since I did it but I think its either yellow and green or yellow and blue. Its at the top of the plug on the ecu.

Right, fitted the white dial kit no problems :) Looks excellent. The delimiter chip however is being a :censored:.
The instructions say the speed signal wire from the car is the yellow/black one but the speedo doesnt move with the chip wired into it. Tried the yellow/red one but thats not it either.
Speedo tested fine without the chip so I know i havent knackered it changing the dials.
Can anyone confirm which is the signal wire? I have no yellow/green or yellow blue wires on the centre connector.
I bet my cheapo ebay chip is the cause but I wanna be sure before asking for my money back.
Cheers
just leave it man, lol, i aint changed mine.... keeps me outta trouble:p

If your speedo is not worrking then you have interfered with the right wires.
I would recommend to you an HKS SLD type 1 (part number 4502-RA002) which are about £100 from any authorised HKS Europe dealer (Apex, SRB and Driftworks are all official dealers) and you should have your problem solved as it even give you full fitting instructions (they may be in Japanese but the dealer you chose should know to contact me for any help if they need it)
Sorry for a work plug but i think in this situation you're better off getting something which you know will work rather than taking unnecessary risks with unknown bits off eBay.
The signal wire on my 94 180SX was the Yellow/Blue one, on one of the SIDE connectors, not the central connector. (sorry can't recall left or right).

Cheers mate, anyone know if it comes from the gearbox or the ecu?
I wired it up today with what I thought was the signal wire but it converted the rev gauge!!! The motor was near redline but the rev gauge was showing 3k.
Therefore the chip works. :)
Im not having long to play with my car before work this week so its a case of trying something quickly every day before shooting off...
