Probably going to get a pint of milk. After all, they were no doubt American planes with American pilots - and these guys are known for their overkill tactics...

Correct, they were American. there doesnt seem to be many uk bombers around there, just fighters and survalance planes. which is why when you see 36 going past it's like me dad said, bloody spooky.

hmm.. I grew up in Lincolnshire and spent a lot of time @ RAF Waddington, Scampton, Conningsby blah blah...

Wonder what base those flew out from ? As far as I know the MEDIVAC status of Waddington was removed over 4 years ago, the VASS is now about 3/4 people :( I don't know of any other bomber base in Lincolnshire...

So did I, used to go watch the tornadoes take off from conningsby, didnt know about waddington but I left 6 years ago, the last time I was there it was the last flight for the vulcan (v Loud). The county got that name from the second world war. (as you probably know)

I dont know where the bombers flew out from but I do know that there must be a base somewhere that is in Lincolnshire or in a county that requires them to pass over as I saw 8 last year on the A16 north of spalding and another 2 the day after near swineshead. I reakon there must be some helicoper place around somewhere as I've often seen big groups of them low over the fields. .
Whatever 36 in the air at the same time means something.

cool, Waddo is such a nice base, did a touch n go once :)

Lincolnshire... ahh the roads !!! I love driving when I go homne to visit the folks, the A158 from Lincoln to Skegness has some amazing sections, the S bend int he middle of a valley, BIG fast road into it, hold onto the S bend and storm up the otherside...

no wonder they have such a huge accident rate :(

Theyre filling the place up with speed cameras at the moment mate, the new A16 which is straight for about 10 miles and wide enough for 4 lanes has them all over it.
I think I know the section of road your talking about, does it take you past Horncastle? I usualy took the a52 to skeggy but if I felt like a play I'd go up the a16 through spilsby and join the 158 at that big hill (cant remember what it's called). nice roads around there.
You from skegness then? we used to be up there most weekend's when I lived there.

Yeah the A158 goes up through Hornycastle (had a couple nice girlfriends from there :) ).

Not from Skeggy (thank god!) I was brought up just outside Lincoln, little place called Cherry Willingham...
