View Full Version : Mitsubishi FTO
A mates wife is considering buying an FTO. We both think this is a bad idea, so need some facts about them, both good and bad.
The car is a 95 2L non turbo import priced at £9,500. Salesman told her it would be about group 13 to insure.
Seems bloody expensive to me for an 8 year old car and would imagine the insurance will be higher than that.
Cheers
Err that should be priced closer to 6k me thinks.
Also tell her she will have fun fixing the MIVEC system :D :D
Overcomplicated imo and not very fast FWD silliness. Good if you have lots of money to spare on keeping it going.
To be fair a mate of mine has had one for two years now and has only had to do normal service items. No repairs whatsoever and no problems with the MIVEC or tiptronic box. Its quickish but feels like an auto (which is a surprise 'cos thats exactly what it is!). Personally I like the more direct feel o a manual box. Changing the rear plugs (transverse V6 remember) is practically an engine out job too.

Feckin' 'ell!!
How much for an L reg import? £9500?
They are having a laugh I think. You can pick them up of this age for about £5000 or probably less. Put it this way they will cost about 2 grand or so from a Jap auction, no way in hell is that a fair mark up...
