What are these all about then? Always managed to just avoid them!
Seen a couple of these lately in Cardiff. They cone off quite a long stretch of road, always a busy main road, and have loads of guys in green jackets ushering cars into the coned off area's? Are they just checking everyone has tax discs or something or would it be emmission checks etc?
Not sure if it's the same thing, but one morning my mate was giving me a lift to work in his Astravan.
This van had a nice bodykit on it, with alloys and painted Kawasaki Green. It actually looked REALLY good :)
Anyway, we got pulled into one of these things and they basically said his windows were too dark (tint) and he had bald tyres. So yes, pretty much :)

Depends if its a roadside cencus, or spot checks.
Ive been pulled over for a cencus a couple of times.
They tend to ask where ur going, where uve been, how often u travel this road, purpose of journey etc.

yeah, if it's a census then its a good idea not to turn around a fcuk off for 2 reasons, one it is an offence and 2 the more people travelling down the road the better, more chance of upgrading int.
the more dc's the better i say
how can it be an offence to turn around to avoid a cencus, its a free country, you pay your road tax, ins. they have no right to force you to answer questions, esp about where youve been or are going...... that has to be an infringement on your human rights, besides being plain nosey, piss on em i say.

I'ts only an offence if you are signalled to stop for the census but don't.

yeah ive "run away" once or twice and its not like they are going to chase you, i got fed up of waiting in the Q.
I thought they also check emissions at the census, after all the police take you to one side as well
A census will always have a police officer directing which cars they want to stop. Its an offence for failing to stop for a copper. They're just trying to find out journey trends and not searching for tax discs, bald tyres etc.
If they want to do an emissions test just tell them you don't want one, thankyou very much.
They can only do one with your permission.
Don't say 'f*ck off' because you're asking for a wind-up if you do but just say no.
They did emissions checks in Bristol about three years ago and had all sorts of people.
Then the word got round that it's not obligatory so 'no thanks!' was the order of the day.
Excellent!:p
