View Full Version : Web help needed again please
Ive got the domain www.apexperformance.co.uk with a new tag holder but its still not pointing at the site yet :( If you click on it youll see what I mean.
Anyone know anyway to speed up the process as my pc guy says that theres nothing we can do but wait but I was wondering if maybe anyone knew of a short cut to getting it sorted?

If that is correct and the domain name points at the correct server then it's just down to getting the web (or virtual web) created on the server and uploading your website to it.
What company were you with before?
Dont you have to wait for the change to propergate around the nets DNS servers?

Yep but only takes 2 or so days.
Records were updated 7th of march, so I assume thats when the tag was passed over, it doesn't mean that the DNS SOA has been updated though, it could be still pointing at the old servers.
if not then it definately has a DNS entry to a server somewhere as it is routable.
Can you tell me who did host your site, and who now is going to do it?
Does any of that above make sense to you.
That doesnt mean a great deal to me Im afraid :(
If I phone Easynet will they be able to give me more information? Are they the hosts then?
Its a local guy acting as a re-seller, I dont know who he used before or is using now :(
How come I got apex-performance.co.uk up and running withing 48 hours but getting apexperformance.co.uk pointing at the site is taking three times as long?
This is a major problem now as Jap Performance is out today with my very very exspensive advert in it with email and website details that dont work :(
Its this company that host the site:

Whats the DNS SOA and why does it need updating and whos responsibility is it do update it and how is it done?
Could it be that my guy hasnt done something he should have but thinks that its down to the hosts to sort it out so Im now waiting for nothing because nothing will happen until my guy updates the DNS SOA?

After investigation for those that care (I have spoken to Bren)...
Both www.apex-performance.co.uk and www.apexperformance.co.uk both point at the correct server, only www.apexperformance.co.uk isn't known about in httpd.conf on the apache server so you just get the Apache/Server home page rather than apex's homepage.
Slack arses!!
And the help is much appriciated Jezz. I now have a much better understanding of how it all works, thanks :)
Ive mailed the details through to Gary to see if he can kick Gordans ass and get the config changed.
"I can see clearly now the rain has gone..." :D I now know whats going on and its cool to have an understanding of the situation. Nice one Jezz :D

Did you shout at them?
Oh did you get my email RE plugs? I sent it to apexperformance200@yahoo.co.uk

Nah, sound's like a fobbing off to me mate, that wasn't cached for me as I don't go though a cache.
At least it works all okay now, did they sort your mail out?
I did some investigation and found that the 59's are = Denso 27's and the 57's = Denso 31.
I think I'll go for the 59's, how muchos monies?
Mmm, well they fixed it about 1/4 of an hour after I mailed Gary then as he phoned me just about straight back to say everything was A ok at his end and has been since yesterday
The mails also back up and running :)
Feck it, its fixed and thats all that matters :)
bren - your website, can't get past the Enter bit...comes up with
1016 - Can't open file: 'whos_online.MYI'. (errno: 145)
delete from whos_online where time_last_click < '1051187557'
is it just me?
Ive just noticed it myself and mailed my webguy a couple of minutes ago :)
Hopefully its not terminal
Its working again :)
just noticed something though, did you buy that V4 plate then? or cunning use of photoshop...?
