Didn't ask where i lived what year or value the car is etc... put me on hold for about five mins, came back and said £1800:eek:  Has anyone else exprienced this or did he just not like the sound of me.
Also can anyone recommend an insurance company

I'm 20 with 1 (nearly) years ncd and Budget (www.budgetinsurance.co.uk) quotes me £1600 for an S13, 1st Quote (www.1stquote.co.uk) quoted me £1575 for a Celica gt4 (1 group higher at grp17), haven't tried them for an s13.

Do HIC have a website, or is it phone only?

I dunno. Am insured through flux and its only about £550 for my S13 and im only 23. I've been with them for about 5 years now though with various cars. I tried HIC last year and i think they were cheaper but couldn't be bothered with the hassle of putting down a deposit and all the paperwork so i just stayed put.

I phoned up one place and they asked me what id been quoted and i said what HIC said and they were like "Where did you get that from" as if to say is was takin the pi$$ and then told me that theyd no chance of beating that.

Still flux is cheap.

Markyboy,

funnily enough.. i got the same "where did you get quoted that" response from HIC when i told then what Liverpool Victoria quoted me.

anyway...back on topic...

I had my scoob insured with Flux and i will NOT be using them again. I cancelled my policy after 6 month as i'd sold the car and they continued to take payments from my account. I called up to complain and they told me i still owed them money as they get the insurance paid for up front from a finance company. I called their finance company and was told that Flux actually owe me over 200 quid. I called flux and told them to sort it and got fobbed off a few times before getting a proper answer. I'm still waiting (2 months on) for my 200 quid back.

On top of that... they couldn't meet my liverpool victoria quote for my 200 (they started off by quoting me 700 quid extra)

Also, they had my scoob insured on a cherished vehicle policy and neglected to mention that the policy does not allow me to drive other cars. I called them to ask for them to insure me on a 1.1 peugeot 106 so i could drive it to Scotland and they said they couldn't add temp cover for that car on my policy.... I was raging about it.... i was paying 1600 quid to insure a group 20 car and they wouldn't let me drive a group 4 shopping trolley.

hello mate, just spoke to the above mentioned guy, and I'm absoloutely astounded by the quote he gave me. he didn't go through the details but he said I'm looking at £700, which seems stupidly cheap considering the best ive had so far is £1280. Don't mean to doubt the guy or anything, but when the price is that low, you have to ask, is this all legitimate

any views would be appreciated
cheers
