Why I Oughta see what it's like to have a rear spoiler which would help to get rid of the taunts from old ladies who think I'm in a fast (but not as fast as an S13) Peugeot family saloon.
Oh, and I love the fact that I can get so much shopping in my boot. Which really would look better with a spoiler. But not one of those big hooped jobs from a Mark iv Supra or WRX. That just looks like you're trying too hard. Well it does, doesn't it? Actually, I like the one on the S13. In fact, I should have bought an S13 instead. I've bought the wrong car. Oh, bugger.
mambastu, where'd you get that spoiler from on the back of your 200, not standard is it? but at the same time not over the top. Nice one

I think it's quite sad how far into denial S14/S14a owners are. You park them next to an S13 and ask any child walking past which one looks like the sports car, and which looks like the rep mobile :) :p
I think its time to copy this to the s14 vs s13 vs auto vs manual Sticky thread.
Should rename it to s14 vs ford probe/maza323 hybid vs auto vs manual though :D :D
Then again ... I dont think even ford made the probe with an auto box did they ????? ;)

Well if you wanna car to impress children ... then yes go buy an s13 .... If you want a car that can impress an adult ... some one that doesnt beleive in monsters, fairies and plays with dollies .... well ... you might want to go buy a real car ! :D :D

Oi, don't diss the auto box, the only civilised means of changing gear known to man (as seen in F1). ;)
Ripper, you got anything to say about autos?

I think it's quite sad how jealous we are of S14/S14a owners. We have to park our S13s outside junior schools in order t get an appreciative audience. Junior school kids are also not tall enough to see the rust under our spoilers so that's an added bonus :p
Yeah must be nice to have people come up to you in the street and say "Nice Mazda mate".:p

I never said I wanted to impress children, however children base their opinions purely on aesthetics, and aesthetically the S13 is a much more attractive, sporty looking car. Additionally it has a lower cd and a lighter weight. Plus the top 5 big power cars on this site are S13's, so it looks faster AND goes faster :)
And the killer blow, the S13 doesn't have a pipe holder and slipper box.

Lower CD? Compact Disc in my S14a is well low:D:D:D:D
The reason they are all S13s is that none of the S14/a have exploded/broken etc to warrent going for high power YET:D
And there's NO RUST IN MY BOOT :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
And its Pipe OR Slippers as they don't fit in together:rolleyes:

2) Bob the builder
3) Thomas the tank engine

5) S13

Overtaking in manual car: change down a gear or 2, accelerate, done.
Overtaking in auto car (if your ever in a position to because of the powerdraining gearbox) stamp on the accelerator, curse and swear while the 3 chipmunks inside every auto box try and engage a suitable gear for you, because your too lazy to have a clutch pedal. Slowly your car starts to gain monemtum, just as it starts to pull the gearbox changes up, losing all power again because of the chipmunks taking so much power out of the engine to change gear. Car is now side by side with the milkfloat that was trying to be overtaken, and has to pull back behind the offending vehicle. 1/4 of a tank of petrol has been used doing this.:D ;)

Aaaah .. this would explain why Shumacher couldnt get past Raikkonen at the weekends Oz F1.
He put his foot down, but alas his nissan powered slush box, not only used up most of his available power, but by the time the thing had chosen a gear and the car ambled up to speed, it was time to break again for the corners.
Damn that F1 technology :D :D ;)
probably the imballance by it changing gear half way round that bend caused him to run wide as well :p :D

Spot on Chris - kids aren't predjudiced by branding or hype when it comes to cars. Hence the following example - I parked opposite a beautiful, mint condition burgandy E-type Jag. Small child walks past - ignores the Jag, points at MY car and goes wow look at that etc etc.

Let me put this scenero to you manual gentlemen.
You have just pulled a fit bird cos she likes your car (S14 guys will have to imagine here, while the S13 guys know what I am on about).
Lets say things heat up alittle and you are feeling ... how shall I phrase this .... amerous. To your delight so is said lady.
What you gonna say when the heat is turned up?!?! "Sorry love can you move your head I need to change gear".
..... I pitty you fools. ;)

Thats what 3rd gear is for - we can pull away in third (just) and it's good for at least 70-80mph :p :D

Had you parked a 3rd car next to yours, painted bright green with loads of stickers over it, illuminouse seatbelt covers, flashing lights .. the kid would have pointed that one out in awe !!!!
This is why children and young adults have a fasination with saxos and corsas with neon and stickers and light conversions ....
Perhaps if you really want to impress the youths of your town, you ought to trade in for a 1.2 merrit with a new front bumper and a neon under tray :D :D :D

My Auto used to do 121mph in third - that's before my boost went to 15.5psi.
And I can bugger about with the CD player and not worry about changing gear whilst wiping the floor with whatever Muppet takes my fancy.

hmmmm you sure ??? ..... 280 .. seems a little dull to me .. I know I got bored below 300bhp .... I know I could do with a couple of hundered more ;)

Automatic drivers? Another word for passenger in my opinion!
Only kidding ;) - am not in a position to comment as I've never driven an auto, but I really like the feel of blasting through the gears on full power, and the pleasure of driving, for me, would be reduced if it was just a case of accelerator and brake. Maybe when I'm older...
Ripper, have you got a '14 then? I ask as they have a longer diff, and 70-80 is as fast as I want to regularly go in my s13.
Chris_Lacey
13-03-2003, 13:54
Jonny, I am sure that your S14 isn't that aero dynamic :)
I have an S14 Diff you see, 9% longer ratios :D .. That and Circa 260 BHP :)
Before it's recent upgrade my Auto used to do 149mph (tested). That was 163mph on the speedo:D
And, remember, we can do 65mph in 2nd (70-odd on the speedo) but can change the Auto box 'down' by taking the overdrive off.
You manual drivers didn't know that, did you?:p :p :p :p :p

You dont see many s14 owners putting s13 bits on though ????
Then again, I wouldnt say no the rear light cluster on an s13 ....... (the only part of the car that isnt probe like ) :D :D ;) :p

So why add the citroen cosmetics ???? ....... trying to be a bit more in line with a saxo boys and girls ???? .... or maybe the tue beauty of the s13 isnt quite as good as you all claim and you need the help of the happy French Citroen design team to give you car better looks.
I heard the New Viper is being released with an option Citroen 2cv light conversion kit :D :D :D
