View Full Version : Drivers vent gauge holder
Didn't like the idea of loosing the vent, so chopped up the existing one and came up with this -

It was too tricky to put the fins back on the right of the gauge, so i left them out.. will have to test fit it and see how it looks.. If I don't like it I might blank that part off and just keep the fins on one side :D
Not a huge amount of interest, but heres the finished product -

The air seems to flow nicely too, and it cost me about £10 (iirc?) in spares, although if you chop up your existing one its free, you just need some hot glue, a cutting tool and some patience :D
Looks good matey, a lot better than the alternative blanking plate with guage holder - keeps that classy look imo:thumbs:
I was quite concerned about loosing the vent with the warmer months on their way, I tried driving around with that vent closed but I hated not having it, so I'm glad I kept it :)
Looks good!
I never used that vent for some reason,so just went for the full gauge holder! :)
nice mate, are those differant bulbs in your speed dials??if so wher you get them\??
check out http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/ (automotive section)
They are the white LEDs, but looks slightly blueish (i think they are referred to as "xenon white")
iirc you need:
3x 501 wedge (I used the 9 LED tower versions)
1x 286 5mm wedge (for the clock)
there are various designs with various light dispersion characteristics, i found mine work well, but other may work just as well or better
I used the xenon white one for clock too, but the clock display has a blue tint to it, so comes out blue anyway, but its cool as this matches the alpine stereo buttons and profecs blue display, and the xenon white dials match the prosport gauges, looks really cool imo
ye i got same gauge and want them to match my dials!cheers
looking good, nice and tidy! Bet you had fun getting the wires through the door grommet
Like the 3 gauge centre console bit btw, I know its "old" but still very smart :)
the grommet wasn't bad actually, and thats with some thick speaker cable already having been fed through.. I just fed some single core mains lead through there, then taped up the cabling i needed to the end that came through, WD40'd it up and eased it through, i was expecting it to take ages, took less than 5mins even with the plug on the end of one of the cables :)
yeah, i like the neat look of the 3 centre gauges too, almost an oem look, well, the placement anyway
