View Full Version : Neighbour trouble

Had the chap from over the road come across this afternoon to moan about my cars.

More precisely his problem is that we currently have 4. One in the garage (the 200) 2 on the drive and one parked outside our house on the road. He reckons he's fed up of seeing a car parked outside on the road, that it's unfair to the rest of the street etc, etc.

Trying to be diplomatic I very nicely told him to feck off, but if he comes back I feel inclined to tell him what I think of him. However, before I do, I'd like people's opinions on whether he has a point or not.

As long on your car is not disrupting in in any way I'd tell him feck off.

However, I've also been on the receiving end of this cos the guy across the road parks his MR2 opposite our drive and make reversing out of it a 10 point turn (cos the road isn't wide as it is) so that we dont reverse in his.

This also makes it impossible for us to get in the drive when he is parked opposite as we have no room to swing into the drive - infact its a pain if he parks iit slightly up or down from the drive cos it means we sometimes have to drive up the street and turn around and enter the drive at another direction so we can 'swing' in.

Park all 4 cars on the street (preferably in front of his house) then when he complains again, tell him to f**k off. As long as the cars are taxed and not parked illegaly, you can leave them wherever you like.

Here Here!

I've had the same problem, 3 cars and my van, all taxed and insured, most of my neighbours are pretty cool but there's one woman who is a major pain in the butt, she moans if I have my radio on when I'm polishing my car, told her to politely feck off eventually.
All the other neighbours congratulated me :D

I quite often have to reverse out of the drive with cars parked opposite and it's not a problem. Has no effect on swinging into the drive either.

He doesn't know this but the problem will be solved in a couple of weeks anyway when the missus moves back to France permanently.

Don't normally like to antagonise neighbours but I'm inclined to kcik his fcuking head in if he comes round again :D

My neighbour has 3 cars, only ever one in the drive as it's too narrow for the others. Sometimes they have people over in their cars who park outside my house. One of them has to park on the shop forecourts opposite. I had the same fun with the breaker 200's from yesterday. generally it was ok but parking on the forecourt across the road got post-it notes under the wipers.

Other than that, if the cars are taxed and stuff, there's no problem putting them outside your own house and they aren't blocking the road.

Been on both sides of this. At our last place some cow parked her car right opposite our drive and made it a nightmare to get in, but then where we lived before, some old bat told us we couldn't park on the road beside her house because many (many) years ago she use to own the land.

Park where the hell you like. It's a free country.
Try not to be too argro though. You don't want to find any nasty scratches and marks on your car.

I don't think it'll come to that. We've been neighbours for 8 years and though we don't pop round each others house we've always got on in a chat-in-the-street kind of way. I wouldn't really tell him to fcuk off, but I just wanted to be sure I could stick to my point of view before I did so :)

Just be diplimatic!

Easier in the long term, no point in kicking off over something so trival

Just say to him that you don't think theres a problem at the moment, but tell him a car will disappear soon when the misses goes.

Sounds like sence?

at the end of the day you have only ONE car on the road, others without a drive or garage would have this so i cant see that the guy has got a valid point. You pay the tax/insurance, you pays ur money you takes ur choice - you want 4 cars, so be it!
