Hmmm, bet that feels better?
Bad news on the jobs though :( , I'd have thought there was loads of jobs going for things like that?
Can't you do homers or start up on your own?
ive applied to loads but havent heard anything yet.
danm frustrating waiting for the postman in the morning.
Ive only worked for independant garages and am trying to get a job at a dealership, which is danm hard as they all want old boys with a million years experience...........
What about going it alone and setting up as a mobile mechanic - one or two in my area seem to do well. Pay a visit to your local Business Link or Enterprise Agency (they have loads of advice on startups, grants etc.). Good luck mate whatever you decide on - hope something happens soon.
good idea dunc, GD1. I think iill do some investigating tomorrow
Cheers

Hey Pete, have you got any de-fleet centres near you?? I worked for a few independant bodyshops and one main dealer, then got bored and fancied a change. Admitedly, the work is a bit boring - I seem to spend most of my time Scotching Vectra bumpers!! But the money is half as much again as retail and we dont have to do re-works for unpleasable customers!
It could be worth a try if you get stuck;)
Also if your under 25 try the Princes Trust - they can do start up loans at cheap rates and possibly grants. Go for it - nothing to lose and everything to gain.
ive never heard of a de-fleet centre. I take it you repair fleet vehicles for re-sale

Yeah, we do ex lease cars, hire cars, company cars and new PDI. The cars are usually owned by the manufacturers or lease companies and when they`ve finnished their lease term (normally 12,000 miles or 6mths) we do any dents and scratches etc. They then get distributed to the dealer networks.
I havent seen rust since I started work there!!:p
