Doing a bit of research here in order to improve my management style to make my self into a much more carey-sharey-touchey-feely- type of employer :rolleyes: .
Why do you hate your boss (if you do) or why do you like your boss, please post.
Because he is:
petty,
thoughtless,
inconsistent,
biased,
selfish,
humourless,
back stabbing,
incompetant,
lazy,
self important,
I could sit and do this all day, thanks JB making a list has actually cheered me up about leaving :D
I must be a wierdo, 'cos I like my boss, she's:
Helpful
Friendly
Funny
Accomodating
Always listens
Takes into acount what you think
Lets you have the time off you want pretty much on request
The only thing I have against her is she's a bit scatterbrained and disorganised sometimes and tends to forget things that I've already told her:)

my boss i a total bastard, hes lazy, thinks he can drive, tells me about drifting and how it should be done, has bad taste in clothes, he's ginger, short, has a stupid car and is totally worthless.
yeah so owning dori-car for a living is fun ;) :D :p lol

I have learnt everything I know about man-management from David Brent. If I could be half the manager he is my life would be complete

I like my current team leaders and boss because:
they respect me
the trust my judgement in the situations that concern me
they make me laugh
they are fair
I hated my last boss coz:
he was an evangelist who brought that into work with him and tried to convert all of us (if that's what you like, fine, but keep work and home seperate)
humourless
rude
thoughtless
tactless
and he smelled bad

My Line manager is ace... she listens to any problems i may have, always has time for me, helps out a hell of a lot when she doesnt need to, understands my needs when i roll in a little late... top woman! :)
now...
the 'people' that are incharge... thats a different matter.... peny pinching, idle, petty, dithering, moronic, unaprocable, un-understanding, overpaid, jobsworths :D
if it wasnt for the fact that im too idle to look for work elsewhere... :rolleyes:
Was just thinking, JB's staff are probably out there right now, thinking: "Look at that lazy ****** again - sitting there on the internet while we do all the work. What a bastard, God I hate him, doesn't give a monkeys about us, etc etc" ;)

Yes that really is my boss. He has slightly less hair now but still the same smug grin :mad: He will be recevieing numerous slaps I am sure when 40% of us are made redundant on 27th May :( :D

I dont hate my boss, he is just a laughing stock.
He is never here, and no one quite knows where he gets too, infact as of today we havent seen him for a week :eek:
One person in my office takes the piss by never turning up, taking the whole day off for a half hour meeting 2 miles from his house. Is always "ill" with something and usually strolls in 1/2 hour late, to later wander out the door about 2 hours early, where does he go? how knows?.
Reason my boss is crap, he just bitches about the aformentioned emploee to the rest of us. They both take the piss, my boss doesnt present any kind of example to us, which is why tother bloke takes the piss, cos he knows he can get away with it :mad:
We would respect him if he just sat people down and had a word, but no. And where the hell has he been all week?
Next problem, always moaning about how much work HE has, doenst appreciate that we also have shead loads to do....moan moan moan "oh i've got soooo many e-mails to day" etc etc
THATS WHY YOU GET PAID FOUR TIMES AS MUCH AS ME YOU PLANK!
Basically, as i see it, you need to be firm BUT fair, dont let people take the piss, and dont take the piss yourself! You need to have time for your employees and actually listen to them.
If you master this, come and teach my boss how to do it.

I hate my boss because:
He keeps cutting our budget, which means doing away with men or equipment, then he takes on more work which we can't cope with, then he bollocks all of his workers because we cant get the job done. Also he moans like hell at us if we spend just 15mins on break but if you go in the traffic office you'd be lucky if anyone was ever working!

Actually I have a bit of tarmac left over from a job down the road.....
Actually JB, it's easy. Give your staff what they need, listen to and act on their problems, and be fair to everyone.
Job done.
Jeff - your boss is a t*sser. Good grief, I saw that picture and was instantly furious. I bet he plays with small children and has several hideous diseases.

I love my BOSS!!
@ Work she protects me from other departments pouncing on me and abusing me. She protects me from nasty customers harrassing me over petty things that turns out to be thir own mistake. On rare occasions she makes me Coffeee!! and offers me wacky pay rises (for car purposes of course)!!
What else can I say she's great!!
To top it all she likes : -
All Cannonball run films.
Fast modified cars.
Getting pissed a lot.
And Me!! (Unfortunatly I am married ... bollox :( )
Got no complaints about my Boss.
