View Full Version : Petrol To Go Up Again

Subject: Petrol prices

Read this and then act on it!!!

We are going to hit close to 89p a litre by the summer. Want petrol prices

to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain

day" campaign that was going around last April or May!

The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we

wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy petrol.

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that

can really work. Please read it and join in! By now you're probably

thinking petrol priced at about 77p a litre is super cheap. Me too! It is

currently 79p - 83p for regular unleaded in some towns. Now that the oil

companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost

of a litre is CHEAP at 77p-80p, we need to take aggressive action to teach

them that BUYERS control the marketplace.... not sellers. With the

price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only

way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit

someone in the pocket

by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT

hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying

petrol. But we CAN have an impact on petrol prices if we all act together

to force a price war. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year,

DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now

are one),

ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be

inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will

have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally

millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers.

It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this

point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach

millions of people!!

I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send

to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at

least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the

message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached

over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to

ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If

it goes one level further, you guessed it... .. THREE HUNDRED MILLION

PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's

all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) If you don't understand how we can reach 300

million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... well,

let's face it, you just 0 aren't a mathematician. But I am... so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out

to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people

could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you

didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together

we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this

message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE

69p a LITRE RANGE

It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy

your petrol at Shell, Tesco, Sainsburys, Jet etc.

i.e. boycott BP and Esso!!

One small problem i can see with this.........

Most of the price of petrol is tax, which the oil companies have diddly affect on. The people we need to hit are the government, they need to learn they will not get us out of cars UNTILL they sort out a decent public transport system. It doesnt work whent hey try this before we have the system to back it up. (and to be honest they are gonna have a fight then:D (am i gonna take the train home at the weekend - 4 hours in a piss soaked crate with a 1/10 chance of making it in one piece, or my 200, 1.5 hours of air conditioned bliss with my own choice of music and company, am i fcuk.)

Look at the congesion charge, government quote:

"we suspect 25% of regular motorists entering central london will take the tube" great, but the current number of people being forced to use the tube dont fit, so where are this 25% gonna fit?

WAKE UP LABOUR - COME BACK FROM THIS DREAM WORLD YOU SEEM TO BE LIVING IN!

The NHS DOESNT work, its NOT the crown jewel of our country its the laughing stock. Our schools are in utter termoil. The majority of our country say NO to war but do you listen, free country my lilly white arse it is. I'm gonna move to iraq, think fuel will be cheaper and life much better. Their leader might be a bit insane, but atleast he's not just plain fcuking la la mad

end rant.

(sorry i seem to have gone off a bit there, i just get very mad with a government that cant see it is heading for its own down fall. i can see an old fashion overthrowing of goverment with pitchforks! where do they find these muppets?)

I think they already know this, hence keeping public transport shite and petrol prices high. They still win :(

i may be wrong but aren't petrol prices now higher than when the "petrol crisis" was on? If so, how come no-one has suggested another one?

prices are getting close to when the crisis was happening, my local esso garage (i dont use it i pay through the nose for optimax) is selling unleaded for 80p per litre, b4 the shortage it was 84 p but i can remember it coming down to 73p per litre after the blockades and the thing is. This government hasnt increased the duty on it since.

Mr smiffad, just because a lot on namby pamby's in this country dont want a war doesnt mean we shouldnt have one, 1500 falklanders would all be speaking spanish now if people had said no dont go to war with argentina, or closer to home if america had listened to its citizens we would be all speaking german. that is those of us whose parents and grandparents would not have been exterminated.

also, has the state of the schools and the NHS got nothing to do with the 18 years of underfunding by the Conservative party.

Mr rome,

My comments werent just reserved to Labour, they are aimed atl all of them, including the raving looney party :p

And me comments about war were just handy examples of how the gov dont listen to the people which is what they are there for, to represent the people of this contry, i have no opinions either way about actually going to war, i dont know enough facts to make that judgment.

Infact i have no opinions about anything i am completely neautral given the thouchyness of people on the board recently (not having a pop, just saying theres been a bit of tension recently:rolleyes: ) and not wanting to be on the recieving end i withdraw anything i have ever said and say in the future....... :D;)

(i still think this contry is in a shocking state though, which ever party is in office.)

Anyway, we could all argue these points till blue in the face and get not where, so i'm not going to bother, time for a cup o tea.................

(just to re-affirm, not having a pop at anyone :))

i happened to vote for the labour party and can now honestly say that i am ashamed of them. i will not be voting for them a again, i wasnt actually meaning to have a pop at you, just that i remember what this country was like when thatcher came to power and look at how it is now. Like u say crime is up, even i get worried about going out at night and im not the smallest person in the world. the NHS seems to be on its knees, but these things have been going down hill for many years, i think the only things better now than 79 are that most people are in work.

so, sorry if you thought i was taking a pop, just expressing my view of life (bit older so longer memory).
In this world of political correctness its nice that it doesnt stretch to your status .... (pikeys) :D :D :D

i think it goes something like this..... wake up morning after election. oh golly i'm an MP 50 grand a year that'll do nicely, oh i better employ my wife as secretary or researcher for another 30k. oh and better claim my travel expenses to and from work, that extra 15k a year will really come in handy, oops time for my 12 weeks summer holiday, policies?? havnt got time for those, too busy spending my wages and going on holiday. oops time to vote for my own pay rise again, i think 40 percent will be reasonable, need to buy that other villa in portugal.

tim rome
05-03-2003, 22:00
Vote for me, i will be prime minister for only 50k a year instead of the 100k plus that blair is on and i will only have 5 weeks holiday in any one year, oh yeah and get this, if you want to ask me any questions, dont wait till wednesday afternoon, i am available 9 to 5 monday to friday.:D :D :D

Why do people continue to abuse the tube?

Admittedly, certain routes on the tube are busy, and all the carriages of all the trains on that particular route are packed in like battery hens. This is not a fault of London Underground. The fact is there is too many people. The only way this can be dealt with succesfully is if companys worked together and staggered working times for emploees, thus extending the rush-hour. Trains cannot be made longer because stations are only a certain length. You cannot run more trains because although that would create more room, it would delay journey times beyond viability. Delays on the tube are rarely of inconvenience to customers because they are scheduled to run on 2-4 mins intervals and any actual intervals in the service are usually caused by customers. Not always, but most. Our Underground setup is by no means perfect but considering cavemen designed their own caves on it, i think its not actually all that bad.

SMiFFAD

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRH, :D

I wasnt having a go at the tube, more the lack of thinking about the 25% extra people who "are going to use the tube", where they gonna be put?

Thats the last time i have a political rant, from this point on i'm just nodding and smiling to everthing:rolleyes:

I vote tim for prime minister if i can be minister for transport.......abolish tax on fuel, that should make it about 2p a litre. Lets have tax on insurance companies who charge over £100 for insurance, yes i like that idea!

:)

you havent been on that program on the telly have you?? "the tube" or what ever it is?

Not being funny, but is it difficult driving a tube? Surly its like driving the ultimate automatic, you dont even steer!:)

thejames
05-03-2003, 22:40
Unfortunately, no, i was too good looking for the program...

Your right you dont steer, and here's the controls, from leftmost to rightmost:
1. Shutdown - for parking
2. Emergency stop - for throwing passengers from one end of train to another ;) :p
3. Application of a dodgy air brake
4. Neutral of dodgy air brake
5. Heavy Electropneumatic brake
6. Slightly less brake
7. Slightly less brake
8. Slightly less brake - and for stations
9. Neutral - for rolling
10. Shunt - V slow
11. Series - tad bit quicker
12. Parallel - Damn Quick!! 35mph.

And thats it.

Oh yeah, and if it breaks down, you gotta fix. Oh yeah, and you might have 1200 people on the train at the time...

I'm so with you on all of this. I was really hopeful for the Labour Government - I was hoping for a young, honest, idealistic government, with progressive ideas on education, health, the environment. This lot are just as bad as the Tories in real terms, which makes them worse overall, 'cos they're more disappointing! Blair's an utter populist and short-termist, who really can't smell the sh!t he's shovelling.

But seriously, who the f*ck else you gonna vote for? The Tories are unelectable at the moment, and won't change much in real terms - they might lower the odd tax, but that's not the problem - it's how the taxes are spent that is! I think generally, people are happy with higher taxes if they f*cking work!
You gonna vote for the f*cking Liberals? Some good ideas, but really, a bunch of f*cking jokers. You wouldn't want them running the country. And they're the least likely party to make fuel cheaper.

The only answer is to get rid of Blair and insert someone to run Labour who is more decent, honest, brave, and less spin-driven. And with a little more common sense.

I wanna be a politician one day... :D

Can't...hold...back...any...more...

Fcuking politicians !!

- My local council currently have a £168k surplus, plus loads of money "invested" in the stock market.
- they are cutting their grants to some things around the town because ...
- Central Government are cutting the grants they give to local authorities who successfully manage their budget.
- because of the grant cuts my Council tax is going up by about 15%
- and, my NI contirbutions are going up next month.
- and, you just know that fuel prices will increase as the fuel companies profiteer from any war ( as they did in 90/91 ), so the Chancellor will get more tax from fuel

Every year the amount of tax I pay goes up ( as a % of salary ) & I get less for it !!
