View Full Version : Who hates their bosses?
I have just passed my final exams to become an exam qualified accountant. This means I now work 5 days a week instead of 4 with a day off to study.
I thinks to myself that if I'm working an extra day a week I must be entitled to a pay rise.
My work is charged at £24 per hour for 7.5 hours a day = £180 extra income for firm per day.
I got about 40 days study leave last year so this works out at over 7 grand more for them.
So I go to my boss today full of hope.
What did they offer?
Feck all

Think it's time for a new job.
Get youself an interview somewhere else (even somewhere crappy) just to convince your boss you mean business. and then see if they come up with an offer. Did this regularly when I used to work for other people and it always seemed to do the trick.
nope - my boss is sorted!
my old boss - what a toshpiece! But this one, couldnt be a nicer bloke, has helped me out a sh!t load of times already and ive only been there 5 months! :)

My sister passed her accountancy exams last year and got offered an extra 2.5k a year on top of the 13k she was already getting. Considering she was then a degree qualified chartered accountant with 3 years experience, she thought that was a rather poor offer.
She told her boss what to do with his job. She's now in Australia in the middle of a year long trip around the world.
Since she left, my mom has recieved several phone calls from companies who want to employ my sis... apparently the names of the newly qualified chartered accountants is posted somewhere and companies can access to this list when then need new staff.

Going for a job interview isn't a dismissable offence is it? Obviously it depends how you phrase it (job prospects, recognition, status etc, etc).
My missus got a pay rise just by taking maternity leave so anything's possible :)

did your company pay for any of your education and exams, if so i suppose they have a point. if they didnt then i would definately look elsewhere, last year i was given a very derisory pay increase so i mentioned to a couple of work colleagues (who couldnt be trusted) that i was taking a days leave to go for a job interview. the word got back to the boss (as i anticipated). lo and behold a much more reasonable increase.

I hate everyone who works in the office
I spend all day trying to think of ways to annoy my boss cos he's such a cock-head
Since finding out I'm probably being made redundant in May this has been the only real reason to come to work :D
