going to be playing this tonight, word is the physics model rocks...
just been playing this racer for about 3 hours... it's got HUGE potential !! the RWD turbo is fantastic and drifts so nicely.. all setup is included, suspension, brakes, tyres, etc etc... very basic and still very much a beta. Never crashed on me once tho....

Had a go last night too. I suck :D
Need to plug in the steering wheel. Its no go on the keys. How did you get the turbo RWD car??? It told me I needed 120 credits. I won one race, and got 2 credits from it :eek:

theres a simple cfg file hack for online play to get the tubby.. if your on MSN tonight we can chat and i'll setup a server
Im up for a bit of an SXOC battle, Played it last night, though I cant set up that FF pos for toffee, was vaguely getting the hang of it though everyone seemed easily able to outdrag me in a straight line?!?!?!?!?

Yeah keys are a nightmare, mouse was only a bit better. My joystick let me get a few decent laptimes but when I bought a Thrustmaster FF wheel... OMG... this game came alive !
yeah lets have some SXOC action.. Andyf was online last night and was up for a game, but he buggered off for a drink :(

Got the steering wheel on last night, its pretty cool. Although my wheel is a cheap nasty one!
Still getting better times. How do you do the cfg hack to get more credits??

Just set this lap record with the XF GTI on the default track.
1.38.69 secs!
Just thought I'd mention I did it, as it was with the following setup which is great to try for a laugh as it makes the car into one hell of an oversteer maniac! :eek:
Suspension
Rear : Front
Stiffness 40 : 110
Comp Damp 0.8 : 11
Reb Damp 0.8 : 11
Antiroll 73.6 : 4.8

If you want to race with the turbo before you get the required 180 credits, edit your cfg.txt file and modify the following line...
Selected Car XR GT TURBO
Dont go into the pits when you join the game because it will realise you dont have enough credits... so get some, race, it only takes a few hours of single player racing to get the 180 needed for the tubby !!

Oh and with my pants setup (i think its pants anyhow - maybe its just the car) im Lapping in the 1:37's with a joystick!
BTW rebound and bound setttings
bound should be approx 1/2 to 2/3 of the rebound setting, That should help you a little, and the front should be stiffer than the back for a FF car too ;)
Maybe my set up isnt that bad after all :)

hmm my fastest was 1.36:08... but that was in race, lots of nasty traffic
I better get the wheel out then for some serious competition.
I used to be the fastest over six tracks on TOCA (first one)on the net until someone cracked the code gen :(
I'll be up for some gaming tonight, just been trying it with the PS2 wheel i have lying around.. Umm, I'm a bit unstable but I'll have a go for fun :D

Hes most unstable as a passenger sitting next to me when doing Doughnuts in the snow (and sliding towards a fence with no sign of stopping ;) )

You can send setups to people in the game, most people I played with online were happy to send their setup.

Its a great game to play on line even on a modem :D

Another one of note is Racer www.racer.nl it's got a way to go, but worth keeping an eye on.
Also there is a game called Street Legal... sadly it's more motivated to those who are inclined towards large wings on cars, but it does have a 240sx in it (it's called an Axis).
I played Racer a while back was not impressed, your right they have a long way to go. If they get it right, it could be good. But LFS at it's current state of development is superb... if they are putting more and more work into it the release version should be huge.

I recorded some attempts at drifting.. i get a few corners sorted. Getting better, it's superb... copy this file (http://www.monkeypilot.com/lfs/replays/Race_n_Drift_1.zip) into your LFS\data\mpr folder, and extract the mpr file inside. Then replay in LFS... a couple of drifts are so nice but that chicane at the end of the circuit is a bitch... gonna have to practice without traffic.

tried joining the SXOC Drifting Practice yesterday, but it was full. So I just raced around Yaks rallycross track. I suck big time at this game :)

I didnt enjoy the drifting melarky as much as the racing the night be fore so now we have both available :)

OK, im installed and that, just playing it in bursts when i get a free moment.. Seems cool! Im using the mouse, and its kinda hard.. I reckon you could drift that FF car, but ive changed the config file..

the FWD can be drifted... but the RWD tubby is where it's at... check out some of my attempts...

I might be really silly (likely), but when i copy and paste that line for the turbo car into the cfg file (over the old line) and save it, nothing happens when i go into the game, other than i see the car for a brief second, and then it switches back to the GTi FF..

yeah man, it only works if a race is in progress... if you are teh only person on that server or the race hasn't started yet the gam e will realise u not got enoguh credits for the car and reset back the GTi....
what server you joining ? i'll come nad join u.. but i'm not very sober

The GTI is cool for drifting although the TURBO is better. It's BLOODY hard to control though. Just touch the acell and whoop, sideways!

Ive been using mouse and going *ahem* OK with it, and ive given keyboard a quick whirl, and it seemed to turn for me.. Did i forget to turn somthing off? Cus it was really gay having it turn for you...

If you wanna play it on singleplayer mode with more than the GTi FF, just race against the Pro level opponents (and win :) ). You get something like 32 (or even 48?) points per win. A lot quicker than winning against the easy level ones 150 times!
Oh, and I find the keyboard is pretty good once you've got used to it. One of the views shows exactly where the steering lock is at the current time.

I got it :D Been doing nothing but Drifting again, in my sexy Brown car :D
I'll be up for a game most anytime if im at home (work right now). Only problem is, my Graphics card sometimes makes the game crash and then run sluggeshly, but thats happened with version 1 and 2, so its defo my PC. After a re-boot its somtimes OK...

There is a good cheat for points.
Just enter a race on the skid pan on pro with lots of AI cars. They is no AI line on the skid pan so they cant go any where leaving you to potter round a few times and collect the points :D

Errr....okay, can I take car settings between versions, as my GTi is dialed in, even in such away that the backends a little loose (like me old saxo) so its fecking great fun to drive :D and bloody quick, I was beeting the Middle car without problems :)

You can, but unfortunately they are useless cause the physics model has been completely changed. v0.2 is MUCH better...

Fixed, voting enabled, i limited the server to 6 people as well and let people race all three cars again.

considering how easy it was to hex edit one file and get 255 credits, I doubt it will be a problem to get some quick credits back :)

I can see it, but its full :( I'd race but I'm a bit crap, I managed to beat the AI in Learner skill using the fwd jobby, with the rwd turbo I was backwards most of the time :)
it's probably just me but I can't get any of the cars around the corners over 40 mph or they understeer off the track :( really not clicking with this game. Viper Racing I can play half well, but I've got a bodged version which probably won't work multiplayer with anyone.
Of course I'll happily bring the new 200sx to a track day and play properly :D
had some cool races with Nos, Andy and deathstar... Andy, we had some wicked races.. lemme sort the replays out

I had a few races on other servers and I didn't come last all the time! :D Tried out a few differen't setups and at one point my wheels wouldn't reach the ground. Anyone got any good setups they'd like to share ;) ?

Hey peeps, anyone still playin' this? Haven't raced anyone from the board yet (I've got- [SXOC] in front of me username now btw).
A quick tip for gaining points quickly if you don't already have the Turbo:
Go to single player select the skidpan track and change to Pro (or expert... can't remeber :rolleyes: ! ). You can now just pootle round the skidpan as the AI cars don't take part and yourpoints will start mounting up ;) !
