Are any of these actually comfortable to use for , say , 6 hours a day? I've noted down a few catalogue numbers from Argos but I can't really say I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with these plug in my lug 'oles

I find they tend to hurt after an hour or so. :( At home, I use a quality pair of Technics (which I use with my decks too) - awesome bass and go VERY loud! I don't care what anyone says, you cannot beat a decent pair of "outer" full ear enclosure headphones. (no matter how stupid you look in the house! :D)

They tend to be fairly random in size so how comfortable they are will depend how they fit in your ear-hole.

A few have rubber surrounds (Sony) which can be adjusted but not much.

I've been okay with a pair of sonys, on 13 hour flights.

Seriously consider Sony Fontopia. Really have to be heard, bass is incredible for in ear headphones. Check them out here (http://products.sony.co.uk/pro_runproducts.asp?pid=222&ShowRange=Yes&Percentage=100&New=No&Cat=Headphones&subCat=Fontopia+Headphones&Ire=&CatID=4&sProdName=MDREX70LP) They basically have a rubber bit that fits inside your ear and uses your head as a bass tube :D
Very affective indeed, but as I found out on a flight from Phoenix recently, not very comfortable for 14 hours in a go, but you won't find any in ear headphones that are I don't reckon.

As casual as my new workplace is, I do not want to be wearing a 'proper' full fitting set of headphones when the various global and divisional bosses stroll past my desk when they go to speak to my manager .. :)
