Sorry for the constant questions...
Could I get a quote to renew these, with steel innards and the likes please?
I am basically looking for if I can find them at the right price, some BB turbos for my RB26, suggestions welcome!
Cheers
Ben

Hi Ben,
No problems, ask as many questions as you want...
We normally upgrade them with steel shafts and 360 thrust bearings. Assuming they're in good condition the price is £350 + vat each.
Alternatively we do a range of ball bearing bolt ons for various horsepowers from 450 upwards. Price for these starts at £680.00 + vat each. How much power do you want to run?

Im only looking around 500hp, cant see my needing any more on a rwd s14a to be honest. They have no traction control other than my right foot, so any more power and it'll become useless.
There's a set of turbos for sale I could get for about £350 I think, which are R34 GTR turbos, so with the 360 bearing and steel wheels, how much are they likely to be good for do you think?
I was buying some GT2510s but they chap selling them has come over all impatient and unreasonable...

I could do a lovely set of GT2860Rs that bolt onto the RB26 for 500bhp...The standard turbos will probably be good for 450 bhp.

They sound expensive :(
As you know we hoped to get 6 turbos done with you guys, but 2 turned out to be ruined... I have decided being as they were to Madda's spec, and I really prefer BB turbos, that he can have mine and I'll keep an eye out for ball bearing units as I irrationally prefer them.
Have you, or are you likely to have anything suitable for around the same power as the ones rebuilt already, where I can get a pair all in and done for about £1k? Any chance of an extra keen price on those R34 turbos you could PM me? ;)

It's Monday morning so please forgive my general slowness...were yours the N1 turbos then?
I could (just) supply you a set of GTR turbos with steel shafts and 360 thrust bearings for £1000 all in on a super super special price.

Mine were the two of the turbos that came in with another 4, for a super super special price we failed to achieve due to some of the turbos being royally ruined :wack:
Those GTR turbos would be ball bearing and good for max of 500hp ish right? If so, it's sounding ideal :D I presume you're not going to be like the chappy selling the 2510s and insist in payment now, this instant, or you'll sell them to somebody else  as that got a little annoying after buying various other things...
Thanks again!

Hi Ben,
The GTR turbos would be standard units with 360 thrust bearings and steel shafts. Would achieve approx 450bhp.
I couldn't get close to 1k all in for ball bearing units unfortunately.

Is that price for the R34GTR turbos, ie ball bearing standard turbos? Or have you suffered monday morning sindrome and thought I meant journal bearing turbos here too?
Im being a decent customer I think, as I have already had 2 turbos done through you ;)

Hi Ben,
They are not ball bearing turbos, they are plain bearing turbos I quoted on. More often that not we find the ball bearing R34 turbos are completely shot so we replace them with plain bearing items (the difference in terms of response is very minimal).

Sorry to be a pain...
But why are ball bearing turbos so popular, are there benefits other than lag reduction from them? How much more would a rebuild with BBs be?
Cheers

The ball bearing turbos as found on some R34s aren't a great deal better in terms of response than the plain bearing versions found on other Skylines (because Garrett sometimes used largers turbine wheels). Unless you're fortunate enough to have NUR1 turbos...Careful not to take that out of context and think I'm talking about the entire GT range...
We did a back to back test on a Cosworth recently where a 550bhp capable ball bearing turbo trounced a standard T34 in terms of response. That is the benefit of ball bearing.

So if I found myself some HKS GT2510s they'd spool perhaps quicker than Journal bearing R32/33/34 turbos?
