Hi jez,
I had a custom map done and some 740 injectors fitted about 10 months ago, I'm having problems with the car see here http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=334110
Just wandering if you have any ideas as to my problems, I'm not saying for a minute that its anything to do with the mapping just wanted your opinion really

Cheers,

Dave.

Just posted.

Not really sure what to suggest. Sounds like a big boost leak or an ECU problem.

Hhmmm, I think i'll re-do all the intercooler pipes then, is there anywhere else it could leak from that might be obvious to look at?

cheers,

Dave.

Not really - finding leaks can be a pain - the only sure way is to pressurise the system and listen.

Might be stupid question but how does one do that

Block up all the pipe ends and then pressurise with an air line.

Hi,

I'm still having major issues with my car, not really done alot since the last post :rolleyes: other than redo all the IC pipes and clean the AFM. It starts off ok then after about 5-10 mins its almost undrivable, sometimes I have to pull over cos it won't rev past 1.5k, after a few mins I can get the revs up above 3.5k then I can just about drive it if I keep the revs high, its like its majorly flooding at low revs, I can often smell fuel too, basically I was hoping I could get it to you to look at cos I haven't a clue, is this something you can do? Also when it is running ok I get a bit of misfire at around 5.5 - 6k revs, but I think its always done this.

The only problem I have is that it has no MOT because I can't get it MOT'd untill its sorted, would this be an issue with you driving it to sort the problem? I haven't got a problem with driving it while you check things, or is it allowed to be driven with no MOT if its to fix the car FOR an MOT??

Many thanks,

Dave.

Hello mate,

Further to our telephone conversation earlier I just thought I'd bring this thread to your attention so you might have more of an understanding as to my problems.

Hello jez,

Old post brought back to life, lol.

I've still got the problems with the car as detailed in previous posts. The car has basically been sat on my drive ever since I last brought it to you, and sods law it was fine all the way to you and while you had it, not sure if you can even remember the car as its been so long.
Anyway the reason for this post is to ask if I can just get the car to you and leave it with you untill it does the problem as i'd like to get it back on the road cos it kills me seeing it parked up on the drive doing nothing, its dying to be driven. I had it running the other day just sat idling on the drive to charge the battery and after a while it starting doing the problem so I reakon that if you was to just leave it running while your doing something else it will probably start doing what it does every time I drive it. Obviously I don't mind paying you by the hour or whatever if you have to take it for a drive to make it mis fire, I just want it sorted now cos the car is being wasted :-(
I'll probably be looking at getting more engine work done soon too once its running right, internals etc.

cheers,

Dave.

Hi Jez

Been meaning to ring but been REALLY busy with work lately!! Its a bit difficult to say a day really cos i can't be sure untill literally the day before, so could I just ring you the day before to see if I can bring it in the following day? I guess it shouldn't really be a problem if i'm just leaving it with you anyway. I'm hoping I can bring it in this friday if thats ok with you as hopefully I will be finished my work by thursday, but like I said I won't know for sure untill thursday.

Thanks,

Dave.

Thats fine - I'll do my best to fit it in - as you say, if you're leaving it here it shouldn't be a problem :)

Hi Jez,

Just a quick question. You did the custom map on my car and I was just wandering, is that the standard ECU just re-mapped or is it a soldered on chip thats mapped? The reason I ask is that if its my ECU thats knackered would that mean a new ECU and another custom map needs doing?

Cheers,

Dave.

Hi Dave

We left the car running today and I think its the AFM or the AFM wiring. Only got it to do it once for a short time.

I'll have another go on Monday and see what happens.

If it turns out that the ECU is knackered then we can just put the custom map onto another ECU :)

ok cool, least if its the ECU then it won't be the cost of another custom map? Did is miss fire badly? when its at its worst you can barely pull away from standstill and the engine will completely die, but will restart.

Cheers,

Dave.
