I'm assuming as he didn't mention anything to me that it's just pay on the day but I've emailed to check.
I've asked what time he reckons we should start too :)
This poll had me stumped! I'm a SXOC and a maybe, I clicked the top two on the poll (multichoice action).

guys,
I can definitely make it - although I'm not fully paid up sxoc member
As mentioned before, I've also got three buddies very keen
to come along, FTO, RX7 & westfield (member of the SS-R club).
Assuming there are spaces - are they ok for participating?
cheers
kenny
PS. I'll be along tomorrow for the monthly meeting - looking
forward to it.
PPS. Cheers Mr M for taking the time out to arrange this - mucho
appreciated.
Hi mate,i took the car to my mate's garage to do the clutch and while we did that i was talking about the low comp test,i had planned to do a head strip but he suggested we double check the readings to make sure. Cylinder 1.- 11.6bar- 2.- 11.5bar- 3.-9.8bar- 4.- 11.4bar- so cylinder 3 is down a bit but i'll just run it 'till it gets too bad to ignore, i was chuffed to say the least. The readings were taken using a Snap-On guage so they are accurate, i dunno if your gauge is duff or maybe as my mate says doing a comp test on a roasting hot engine throws the readings off but the car is running very well.
I can't make this months meet due to work:( , if only i was on strike!!!!!! (JOKE) but should be there next time, cheers,Nobby.:D

Any of you guys up North want to meet up in Dundee. I know exactly where star performance is and will take about 1/2 hour from Dundee. We could meet up at the retail park where Halfords and toys r us is.
Tonnie
sounds like a plan to me :D

Those readings seem very high mate, very high indeed, but im glad the comp on 4 is ok.
Maybe the guage is fooked.............
I dunno...........
Checked it a couple of times cos there seemed a bit of pressure blowing by the guage the first time, maybe the seals are fooked on it:(
Really sorry bout giving u that extra headache when it seems it was not at all nescessary, really glad all is ok with her, and ur back on the road.

How are you doing for places? Is it worth advertising on the "General" Forum? I'm looking forward to it!;)
we've got 11 people that have posted here, WELLS ALANHILL and 300zx all showed interest too but haven't responded here yet. I'll pm them to make sure they know about this thread. and there's kennys 3 mates interested too
that makes 17 alltogether... and he did say 16 tops... what do you all reckon?:)
Graham, id suggest editing ur first post to include a list of definites, so we all know exactly who is coming.
Kev
ps. has everyone seen the trackday thread?
Can we have definite interest in this too pls.

Martin when u wanna do the turbo/gearbox?
dobergoose
15-03-2003, 17:02
I've ordered uprated engine and gearbox mounts, and a clutch. I think for the turbo I'll just have to have the car off the road for a week to get the T28H reconned.
Don't know when I'll get the stuff.

what bhp are you hoping for?
dobergoose
15-03-2003, 19:41
Haven't really set a target, according to the ND catalogue by the time I've got all my bits in place my setup should be good for 279 at the flywheel, near that would be nice
MrMidgers, may I suggest the following:
- we all list what bhp we expect and closest one "wins the respect" (I'll go for 239 at the wheels for mine)
- we all get our exhaust gases analysed to make sure a/f ratios are ok
- er...

dobergoose
17-03-2003, 03:15
My mates ment to be sorting me out a thing for my pc that will let me put ordinary video cam stuff online.
My wee digi cam can take some video but not that good quality.
I might be able to cadge a decent ish stills digi cam but that's all...
Mike, I like the idea in principal but I have absolutely no clue as to what bhp I'll be getting but 220 at the wheels would make me smile :)
and the exhaust gas analyser... I was kinda hoping that we'd be getting this done as part of a run... but i don't know. Does it take any longer?:)

...might be a bit of a laugh having a sweep? Anyhow, perhaps you could call up STAR - it would be good if we all knew our cars were running fine. I dont think they'd do it unless you ask. There might be an extra charge but those who want it could pay. Whaddyathink?
Id have thought it would have been done as a matter of course tbh Mike, really surprised that the other rr place didnt.

Nope, 'fraid not, but I can get my Dad to borrow one for me ;) .
It's a Sony PC9 Digital mini DV camera. It can also take digi stills and 15 sec's of video on the memory stick  .
PS. can u see the pick of me an my mota in the sig? I can see it but someone was saying you have to change the end of the url on Imagestation pic's.
Jonny, you're picture is showing up fine. But when I saw the ugly mug on it I had to go to the "edit options" and turn the signature switch to OFF. I can now browse without fear of seeing it again :p :D

..... that's the last time I play footsie with you at the Brucefield Farm :p :D !
How's the maintenance coming along mate, you got her rollin' yet?
That was your feet! I thought it was Kev, he was winking too!! :p :D
The turbo arrived yesterday, its not in perfect condition - I'll fit it this week and see how it runs.
Did you decide to do anything with that old exhaust, it was only going in the bin - I wasn't too sure if you'd want that scabby thing on your car?? Or are you going to dig into your pockets and buy a goose or similar?
Dunc.

Heheh :p.
Deffo going to put the back box on. It's in damn good nick and should look and sound a helluva lot better than my standard crappy one. Was going to sand and treat the rest of the system (still seems to be intact) but it would mean having to de-cat it aswell so I'll stick with the shitty one 'till I've got some moollah for a goose or other :) .
Good luck with the mota.

nimo, its a Rolling Road.
Basically what u do is park ur car on this rolling road (similar to a brake tester at an mot station) then get out and watch another person kick the cr@p out of ur car, then he tells u how ur fueling and airflow is as well as how much bhp ur running.
btw peeps, next meet, state interst pls:-

P.S. Anyone out there got NOS fitted or if not why not?Replies much appreciated as looking to get it asap.:D

How many spaces are left cause my mate with the peugeot might have an S14a by then, we're going to look at one on Saturday.
there's 17 on the list... the maybe's need to sort themselves out :) do we hold places for the maybes? or do we just take the first 16 DEFINATES?
dobergoose
20-03-2003, 18:49
OK but I'm not definate, turbo probs, I hope to have it done by then but I'm running out of room on my plastic
Martin surely ull just run with ole smokey?
Andy has been turned to the dark side then, excellent.
U asked the pipe and slippers brigade wat to look out for?
Graham, maybe best to e_mail Kenny (mine still a bit fooked up) and find out about it, otherwise its gotta be the definites we take!

I dunno, i just dont understand what came over me, im so sorry Kev, my humble master.
And its really good of u to find out about the gas analyser Graham, such a nice chap.
( i wonder who edited Mikes post:rolleyes: )
Peeps Kenny has PM'd me back.
He and 1 mate will defo be going.
He has another 2 mates that also want to go!
Can we please be definite about who is going and who isnt cos its only a few weeks away now.
Martin's mate Andy
Dunc
Nimo
Wells
Kenny's friend makes definites upto 12 (including Martin, cos u will be there!!!) so we need u guys to tell us one way or the other asap, otherwise ill have to say to Kenny to tell his mates they have places.
Id rather fill it with 200's, but its not fair to leave Kennys mates hanging on.
Ive PM'd the ones who havent replied on this thread for a wee while.
I say we give it till wednesday the 26th and if people have not came back with definites then its first come first serve.
That gives Dunc time to fit the turbo at the weekend, and Andy time to buy an S14, so u boys can tell us definitely.
Kev
(sorry Graham, i just realised ive kinda took over here, its ur RR day mate, so u change the conditions if they dont suit)
:) not at all kev, you've just put into words what i've been thinking and trying to work out how to do it best :)
top stuff :D

Guys Wells just PM'd me back that he cannot make it, And 300zx said he couldnt either, so only really nimo , Martins mate Andy and Dunc (cmon stop using excuses) to say definites.

Awww shite Dunc, that's bad news :( . Where's u get the tubby from? No chance you'll get another before the RR day?
Martin, have left a message with Fraser about using the garage on the 5th and 6th of April (those the right dates, better to say both days to be safe?). He hasn't got back to me yet but I don't see there being any problem :) .
Thanks for all the effort you're putting into my avatar mate, but can someone please tell me why I can't see it wooshing from side to side...... argh!!!!
None of the forum smilies animate anymore on my PC. I've tried enabling animated icons etc. in the internet tools but it's already done  .
Jonny,
Nah, deffo no RR action for me. I got it from a guy down south but he didn't realsie it was damaged either so he's cool about giving me my ££'s back. Which is
I heard you waffling on about getting an exhaust on your car on the other thread, is it the one off me? If so did it go on alright? Full system?

Theres deffo' more power now tho' and it burbles away lovely :D .
Thanks again mate, just wish I had a spare tubby I could give you  :( .

och stick old scrapey on, and stop being a woose!
U and Martin can battle for the title of most smokey RR car:p :D :D :D
LOL, old scapey has been replaced by "uncle scapey"!! Its got serious side to side play, I'm hoping to be able to limp around with it. I'll have to keep an eye on the oil level though!
My 200sx is just going to be a track day special, I'm going to buy another car after I've moved house in a few weeks. I'm hoping to keep it Jap but the sierra cossies are pretty tempting
If a good 200sx came up for sale I'd snap it up though :)
Dunc.
Ok guys we are at 13 definites, as Nimo has contacted me to confirm his place.
Dunc and Wells have until 2moro to confirm or lose their place.
So id guess that unless we are struck by some miracle that dunc will be out, and as wells has not contacted me ill have to assume that he has lost interest or has problems with his car.
Kenny ill confirm 2moro as i said but im pretty sure u can say to ur mates mates there are welcome to fill the places if they aint pissed off with being fcuked about up till now.

Mike y dont u start a thread about peeps predicted bhp?
Do we know if the figure they give u is @wheels or fly?
To me the @fly figure is irrelevant and only for bragging, surely its wat u put down that counts, but id image Gee and Kenny will want the @fly figures cos of the tranny losses in 4X4's.
Im looking for ~210-220@wheels i think, anyone looking for more from the 200's?

In terms of a mag article, we could offer some good pictures
along with a copy of the RR results to the mag - they
could make a article out of that
Is anyone bringing a video camera?
If not i can bring mine along.

Can this RR handle Auto's (isn't there somethin funny with RR em?) and what is the max BHP it can handle before it starts estimating?
Brian, dunno, try e-mailing Star.
Ive e-mailed Jap performance to see if they would be interested.
Kev
Sorry guys,
It looks like I wont be able to make it:(
I broke my gearbox on the way home from Coatbridge last night:eek:
Does anyone know anywhere to get my box reconned?
Graham.
Suppose I could start saving the near 3 grand for the Quaife gearset.
Gutted :( Not entirely unexpected giving the record of GTIR boxes though :(
Its tough to justify spending £3K on a box though, how much will a recon cost? Over a grand?
Spend the money on my 200 instead :D :D
I might still make the RR meet:D
I spoke to Marc at the Garage and the R is booked in on Wednesday.
They are taking the box out and sending it to Hiteq for a rebuild, its then being replaced in with a standard clutch instead of my HKS Paddle as the paddle was the main factor in the box breaking.
With the standard clutch I'll get some slip but the box shouldnt break as easy again.
It just depends on how quick Hiteq are as to wether I'll make the meet or not.
Graham.

Bad luck mate:(
Hope you get it sorted out for the rollin road.
3 grands a shitload but if you intend to keep the car a long time, I'd start saving, was telling my neighbour bout your car this morning and his mate had one, which went through gearboxes like most folk do with petrol.
The quaife stuff is really well built, if thats what it is.
Martin
Sorry to hear that Gee, expensive one!
Something has to eventually give in the war of engine power / clutch / gearbox / driven wheels, as you mention it's better to break the cheapest option to protect the box!

Bugger :( .
Sorry to hear that mate, hope you get it sorted b4 the rollin road.
Not good greame, guess the s13 purchase goes to mr. backburner for a while then.
U were saying it felt notchy too, bugger!
Wat actually went?
I pulled away from a set of lights at the strathy r/b calmly then when I got to 4000RPM I floored it, when the tubbie came on at full boost the gearbox went bang and it popped out of first.
I coasted round to the EK cut off and eventually got it to go into second. The car is still driveable but the gears dont sound healthy at all.
I need to nurse the car to college on Wed in Battlefield, then from college to Wishaw to the Garage then I have to find a way back to EK some how:confused:
With a bit of luck I could make the RR meet but Marc said that Hiteq usually take their time so I have resigned myself to losing the R for a month:(
If they take their time and do a good job then I'm sure you won't mind the wait :)
It took me a while to work out what EK was though!!! Don't worry I've got it now
Good News:D
I took the car to the Garage today and they said that it looks to be more of a clutch problem than the gearbox.
The clutch is not fully disengaging so it might be a collapsed bearing or a spring has came loose on the pressure plates.
It should be pretty simple to fix and I'll be there at Star.
goodstuff, glad to hear it Greame.

yee ha, few bob saved.
are you still puttin the standard clutch in, seems like a waste of good horses IMO
No, I'll be sticking with the paddle if all is OK.
I think that I might start looking at ways of getting more power,
more boost, water injection, nitrous, who knows?
I might still be able to buy Duncs 200 if funds allow:D

Aint gonna stick the boost up to 15PSI on my T28 as I aint got a chip and I will risk blowing my engine.
So its staying at a nice 7PSI
I'm gonna go for shiniest car there. Will spend all day polishing it and bung her in the garage over night

Road kill, that will be the sleigh drive next to Santas grotto??? :D :D :D
On a more serious note...I live less than 5 minutes from
sleigh drive - on London road.
I can met up with you on Sunday morning as I'm going along
to the RR on Sunday as well.
Give me a call on (edited) and we can arrange something
for Sunday morning.
I think we would want to leave at 9am at the latest to met
up at McDonalds at the Forth Road Bridge in time (i.e. 9.20am).

Kev,
I aint got the money for the chip yet, got to wait till my student loans comes through. No idea what kind of power I will get now. Once all my mods are done I will book my car in for a power run or tune up
Mods are now
- Power flow exhaust
- T28 @ 7PSI
- Pipercross induction kit
I reckon I will get about 160BHP @ wheels
Guys, got the diagnosis of whats wrong with the R:(
The HKS Paddle Clutch has broke, not the gearbox:D
The clutch plate has cracked in the centre and there is cracks on two of the paddles and the third has nearly completely sheared off:eek:
All this with a clutch that has only covered 8000 miles.
The Garage are phoning Hiteq tomorrow as they supplied the clutch to see if HKS offer any guarantee.
If they dont then the clutch is being replaced with a standard plate and the HKS cover.
I should hopefully have the car back for Sunday, fingers crossed.
Graham.
Fingers are crossed for ya greame.
Tonnie, sounds bout right mate, though u could probs stick the boost up to ~10 without fuel cut.
Btw have u fitted the fuel pump yet?
Kev

Thats good news mate :)
I like this idea so that the clutch remains the weakest link, do most of the Gti-R guys run with a standard clutch when they are using the standard gearbox?
Dunc.
:D :D :D
I am getting the car back 2morrow so I am deffo going to be at Star on Sunday.
The clutch is being replaced with a standard organic plate and the HKS cover cause Hiteq have stopped using HKS clutches due to the common problems occuring, they are now using Exedy clutches instead.
Dunc, most GTi-R boys are using uprated AP organic clutches cause as soon as you turn the boost to 1 bar the standard clutch dies very quickly, the difference in performance from a standard 9psi to 1 bar is amazing on an R. Standard figures of 220BHP turn to an average of 265-290BHP with just a filter, zorst, and 1 Bar.
See you all Sunday :D

Mind you, if there was a space for me to go on, it would be interesting to see if my 140k no mods motor is putting out what it should!
