View Full Version : SXOC at Bedford on Saturday just gone. (9th).
Was good to meet a few people and see some 200's out on track.:sxoc:
Personally I had a good day, it was a shake down for me really and a first time with the 200 on track. I had a few issues, but overall had a good day and cannot wait to get back out.
I don't think I will go to Bedford again though, as it was a bit "nanny state" motorsport, and, as others mentioned, very strict on noise. I passed but was backing off passed noise meters and my mates Skyline got kicked out, he didnt even do one lap, his car was measured at 0.2db over, and I would not think of it as a noisy car at all.
The car was ok overall, but a few bits are needed, especially my ARB's which should arrive any day. A few people said it was basically flaming the entire time I was throttled off in the morning, but I had to turn the boost down as it was all getting too hot in the afternoon.
My driving needs lots of work and I don't think I took the same line twice lol, but started to get the hang of the brakes a bit towards the end (they are awesome) and managed to go past a few nice 911's, which is what its all about lol.:D
Karan's black S14 was thumping it round all day, he was saying that its taken him a while to get it sorted, and that he warped his R33 GTR brembo's, but the car was certainly flying and a credit to the 200's. It was defo the quickest 200 and one of the quickest cars on the day I think.
Also met sideways danny at the end of the day, thanks for the advice on the idle control valve mate. Was funny when I was pulling out the pits with the gaskets blowing hard and sounding like a tractor lol.:wack:
Plus had around 6 other people come up and compliment me on the car, which was really nice and helped me go away with a really positive attitiude even though we had struggled a bit with the car.
Cheers!:)

I'm at Bedford on the 23rd, bit worried about the noise thing, what's the track itself like?

Yes, you should be I am afraid. I have a new twin box system (HKS) and passed by the skin of my teeth. Depends what you are running mate, but a cat silencer aswell as a twin box is probably a good idea.
Track is ok, wide, fast and long....

I was there on the day (Blue S14a with the gunmetal rota GTR's) going a lot slower than the other 200's but I'll get there in the end. Car is still fairly standard!
I have a Blitz Nur Spec R on my car and passed the static test by .1 db @ 100.9 db. I then promptly put my baffle in (on advise from the marshalls) and was fine for the rest of the day. Again my friend with a Scooby was pulled off after 3 laps and that was it for him having triggered the db meters! Apparently every time their meters are triggered it is logged and the track are fined by the council for every breach on the day. We had 32 breaches on the 9th.
Still a great day and sorry if I held any of you guys up:(
Cheers

Do they allow a bit of drifty at Bedford?? Id imagine so if Karan was up there, but if they do I might just make it to the next one

the guys I know in the evo said Karan got a few flags for skids. they got the same and they've know the marshal for years :wack:

Really? FFS, lol. Mine was probably too low rent.:wack: Either that, or by the time they looked for me I had already come in to top up the coolant.:D
So basically, Beford is ok, aslong as you don't make any noise, have any fun, or really do anything apart from pootle around in a quiet-ass road car.:ghey:
/\/\/\ sounds perfect haha
Glad the car generally behaved itself mate. You allways leave a track day with an idea of what to do next, thats the good thing about them.

[QUOTE=Squares;3808831]Hi mate, think we said hello! Was pretty busy though, trying to cool my car down lol!
Yeah was next to you in the pits in the afternoon. Indeed there might have been a little steam around at points ;) Think i need to get some teins pretty sharpish looking at my pics. Some ridiculous arch gaps and wallowing going on:cry:
was a great day out but as far as the marshalling was concerned. i definitely will NOT go there again-absolutely shocking overzealous marshalling, especially when the track is huge and theres loads of run off. drifting a big NONO got black flagged 4 times! the whole thing was a bit unfortunate as i reckon this kind of ethic distracts from the whole point of trackdays, and may b especially off-putting to newcomers. best marshalls ive experienced at cadwell park, which is also the best track ive driven in the uk
did 150mls on track-warped front brembos which is annoying as theyve survived a fair few other tracks wit no issues, but this track was very hard on brakes i think
was great to meet squares and everyone else too

it is an awesome skidding track though...at one point i thought fuk it and unleashed 3rd on a left corner smoked it up then transitioned right and into 4th at same point, drifted right and then carried it onto the straight manji-ing 3 times in 4th....black flag at next corner but it was worth it lol

 Thats what Im talking about. :notworthy Youd have thought that someone watching thatb might have some idea that you knew what you are doing - you dont tend to pull off 100mph manji with a gearchange on the way by accident  :wack:
Shame they are anti fun ............. sorry, drifting there as its not far up the road from me :(

I agree with the black flagging - this kind of tomfoolery has no place on a private track, it should be kept to the roads :wack:;)

It was great to meet you guys at Bedford. I think I just about spoke with everybody with a 200 asking for advice on buying an S13 for track days. This is me http://www.trackphoto.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=17104_17105_17115&sort=20a&page=1
Some of you guys were flying on the straights. I was getting it sideways all the time I didn't have any problems with the marshalls. In fact I had a huge 3rd gear tank slapping 180 with tyre smoke, no complaints from the marshalls.
The last time I was at Bedford in August 2007 they actually said that they didn't mind drifting and if you wanted help doing it to get one of their instructors out with you. The only stipulation was to make sure that nobody was behind. Plenty of smoke here http://www.trackphoto.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=11181_11432_11441&sort=20a&page=2
Hopefully I'll be on this forum more, I'll soon be buying an S13, purely for track use.
