View Full Version : New rear S14 big brake kits coming soon
We have some complete rear S14 brake kits on the horizon. They will come complete with a lightweight rotor and bell set up, a pair of calipers to take the original handbrake assembly, pads, hoses, fluid etc. Ignore the hubs.
288mm solid rear disc.

are they the same original calipers?
is this coming soon/need a test mule? as im about to overhaul my rears (calipers/discs/pads) the lot shortly :)
I can do them with new calipers or reusing the old. Ill probably do the full kit with new calipers as the price will be similar :) We dont need a test car, we have the Test S14a thats running KSport 356mm front and standard rear brakes at the moment.
Any details on the size of the rear disk?
If my new Dixcel type z carbon front pads live up to the hype they have on the ITR forum im going to need a rear brake kit to balance my car up again.
Rich.
Nice :D
Will you be looking at doing a Z32 larger diameter disc kit in the near future?
any idea on prices big man?
Liking the sound of these,my rear brakes are about the only standart part left of the suspension, chassis and brakes!
Why is there hubs in the pic though? will we need to replace these :thumbs:

We already do a KSport 6 pot caliper kit for the Z32 rear ;) Theres only one rotor sixze for this new rear kit, 288, thats no upgrade for the Z32.

Theyll be around £425 depending on how theyre brought over. Airfreight will increase the parice. Thats not just rotors and brackets though, it also includes a pair of calipers, pads and hoses :)

We can also do complete rear conversion from drum to disc set up, the hubs are part of that kit :)

If you already have uprated fronts e.g R33 Brembo or Ksports and want to fit these will the BMC need upgrading too?

What sort of calipers are they? Are they single piston?

Possibly :)

No

Yep, theyre similar design to the original but are new, saves you messing around with your old manky ones ;)

Is there any chance of getting any twin piston rear calipers? From experience i know that the s14 rear calipers are constantly seizing up and dont work that well in the first place.
Absolutely no chance  We will be doing a full range of kits and they will all use the same rotors, calipers and pads, theres zero chance of doing a small number of kits with twin pot calipers

No dates as yet but theyre not far off

just a thought bren
is there any chance you could do a braking comparison test between the standard rear disk and caliper, against the new larger disk with the new caliper, using a control brake pad? using a braking force meter from at an mot station?
i know that the z32 set up has ultimately better braking, but could a test like this be carried out so we can see how much better the braking is with the standard caliper further out?
Its the kits ability to deal with heat thats important, not the cold braking performance. The pads would also have to be the same compound. If I can arrange it then I will do.

cool :)
i understand that :)
it was just a thought to help give some more braking performance info, to those that may write off using the standard caliper on a larger disk.

i take it the ds2500 pads for the rear still fit?

So will this be a rear big brake easy fit job rather that pissing about with all the other set ups. Very interested in this pending on price obviously! As I will be running 8 pot fronts and standard rears.
It will bolt straight on.

I look forward to seeing a good price with many options and hopefully a huge group buy

what would the pad options be or do the calipers use normal sized s14 pads.
Very interested in this. Is it K-sport Bren? Are the rotors a good match in appearance to the K-sports? Thanks:)
Theyre KSport  Ive not seen a physical kit as yet, just the pic above
Any idea at all or maybe ballpark idea of when these will be available Bren? I have just ordered a set of 330's for the front and would like these to balance up the rear as soon as possible. I'm definately up for some anyway so if there's testing or a list or a group buy or whatever, count me in please:nod:
Edit: Here's my crude brake size calculation just for interest;
fronts standard 280mm to K-sport 330 mm. Difference in disc size from 280mm to 330mm is 15%
Rears standard 257mm to K-sport 288mm. Difference in disc size from 257mm to 288mm is 11%
obviously this is just disc size and not indicative of actual braking difference but it sounds good in my head:wack:
Based on those albeit crude calculations I reckon the balance should be just fine:thumbs:
I dont know when theyll be available, KSport sent us a news letter so Im releasing the info of an upcoming kit, I dont know more than that at this time
Any chance of these by japfest? need to change my pads soon,so just wandering whether to hang on?

same here, mine are very low:eek: even just the discs and brackets would do..
I dont have a date as yet
Ok thanks Bren,i'll wait for the usual grinding noise then! :D

will you be selling just the calipers? and would they work with standard disks/hubs etc?
price?:wack:
about to put on my third set of second hand calipers due to the old ones siezing up:smash:
The calipers only work with the new discs.
Any chance of giving K-sport a nudge on these ;)
Ive sent them an email :)

any news bren:confused:
looking at the picture, will it be 4 bolt hub or is that a general picture, and it will be 5bolt for the s14? :)
No progress from KSport as yet. The picture is generic, not car specific :)
bugga! no japfest for me then..
New rear S14 big brake kits coming soon
To a zimmer frame near me :D
Any chance of another push? i'm itching for proper belled bigger rears!
Did anything come of this Bren? Are there still plans? Cheers :)
