Evening,

I've recently been discussing a track day at haynes motor museum with a close friend, and after searching on here i see you guys did one early in 2007, even saw the videos on streetfire, looked fun if a little technical! (perhaps llandow might be a better idea...)

Either way, would anyone be up for this again? i'm not sure on the details on when they actually hold them but i assume some of you guys were involved in booking it originally and can point me in the right direction?

Cheers

There have been around five SXOC track days at Haynes....

The last one gained almost no interest (3 people IIRC) :(

I'll probably look into sorting another one for around March/April though :)

i have non sx drivers who are up for going anyways, a few have been to hayes before and a few havent, so i could make up numbers quite easily if needs be :)

Haynes is always a good laugh, it's not exactly a proper circuit though, more of an area of tarmac to mess around on :smash:

I'd be up for it if they will allow some drifting.

They have been OK with drifting in the past as long as people are staying on the track and off the grass and not spinning every lap.
Llandow is good fun, but the surface shreds tyres - left hand side tyres get melted as its all righthand bends.

that sounds lush.

best to go when its a bit moist then :D

Is it a rather grippy track then? i.e better for grip driving as opposed to drifting.

well last i went there was some show and they were drifting box shape 3 series BMW's was good to watch, just wish I had my 200 back then, wouldve begged to get one.

By the way, what would they require from you (license wise) and your car (safety wise) to run around that track???

Full UK driving license.
Crash Helmet.
Membership of SXOC (if you go to an SXOC organised event).

Should be, don't qoute me on that though :)

*Edit - Llandow must be heavy on tyres as there was actually noticable wear in my left front by the end of the day.....
My Westfield NEVER gets tyre wear :wack:

They've never asked to see driving licences at Haynes at any of the half dozen or so days we've organised down there. Helmets have been optional (but recommended) at the last few too :D

Essentially you just need a car and some money.

So I can go then on my South African Driving License...I know I'm allowed to drive on the roads for 12 months on my SA license as long as I'm in the process of aquiring my Full UK license....and I've been here since August???

Last time I went to Haynes on a non sxoc day we were asked to leave because we were drifting and it was too noisy, helmets were also compulsory.

Llandow would be nice as there is a BDC round there in April I think and wouldn't mind getting some practice on that track

It's very vague down there, it seems to just depend on if they like you or not :wack:

yeah i remember going down to watch a one last year it looked like good fun! don't see how they'd have a problem with drifting as they hold action days with rally and drift demos!

one of the guys last time was off driftworks and was competing in edc and drifted the whole track with ease went through some tyres though!

think they are allowed a certain number of 'noisy' days each year.

The guy you saw last time might well have been Declan Hicks

i think its something to do with the state the place was left after the last drift day there
apparently there was rubbish left all over the place even thought there were bins etc provided.
they wern't to happy about how it was left, so arn't too keen to have drifters back again.
i'm sure if sxoc were to organise an event, it would be welcome there. and some drifting would be allowed, as long as the place was respected.

i work with a guy who used to work at haynes, so this is a reliable source telling me this
